Hi,

I am new to the forum but hoping to put my 125 in for its MOT on Saturday (6th Aug) was wondering where to take it. I am based in Harrogate but its looking more likely that Leeds will be a better option in terms of available centres!

Was hoping to get some advice from others on here as the google search has so far returned car MOT garages and bike sales garages only!

Mods - feel free to move me, I was not sure whether this was a Newbie, Workshop or General!

Thank you in advance hopefully Smile

There should be hundreds of the things. If you are really stuck you can go to Moderna MOTs on Burnley Road in Mytholmroyd - a bit out of your way but I'm sure you can find something closer. Try Yellow Pages under Motorcycle Repairs and Services...

Hi mate,

Try https://racehq.co.uk/

Based in Horsforth so you don't have to go through the city-centre, just head towards Pool Bank then through Yeadon, they're nice guys there.

There's Staiano motorcycles that are on the Starbeck high street, just over the level crossing. Found them pretty good at getting all my bikes through MOT. Saves going all the way over to Leeds anyhow!

Killy

Edit: If not there's Starbeck Scooter centre around the corner, never been though, so I wouldn't know what they're like. Also there's Acklams down on Bower Road near Asda, don't know if they do MOT's.

I also always use Carl Ward, as do loads of friends, and have never had a problem. He even spent a while showing me how to repair something so I didn't have to pay him to do it.

At first he was friendly as i bought a piston kit from him to rebuild my DT and he was explaining how he would do it, and build it all up with oil on all the parts etc. fit the rings on the piston for me Said he was getting me a genuine gasket set aswell as the spurious ones are shit.
Used him to get my barell bored and honed and an hours labour to remove the head studs and power valve as i couldn't be bothered, that took like a week even tho he said like 2 days, not really a problem as you can expect delays.
Built my bike up, week later the head gasket went, turned out the gasket set he got for me wasn't genuine, asked him about it and he basically wasn't interested.

Took my bike then for MOT the week after and it failed on headlight bulb and a rear tyre. So i said just change the bulb for me, to save me coming and collecting it and doing the bulb and fit the tyre, Got a phone call a bit later saying its not the bulb, ive just spent two hours tracing wires to find the fault but i still havn't found it and would need at least another hour to remove the tank and follow the rest of the wire, even tho he didn't ask me at all if he could do the work on my bike. Refused to give me any discount on the 2 hours labour that i didn't ask for!!! Infact no he let me have like 57p off...generous!
I went and collected it took it home thinking it was going to be a big job and found the problem in 5 minutes, just a lose connection under the tank which takes all of 2 minutes to take off, 3 bolts, all the same size!!
Took it back for the tyre and re-test, took 2 days to get the tyre in which was a different tyre to what i wanted as he said he couldn't get the one i wanted for another week.
Then charged me £15 for the retest as i removed the bike just to fix the light problem that he couldn't even fucking fix.

Basically hes a prick IMO.

Thanks for all the advice, really much appreciated Very Happy

I am dropping it in to racehq on saturday bright and early so I can then tax and spend the rest of the day knocking about in the dales.

I struggled with any of the Harrogate garages Staiano and Starbeck as apparently they are busy every weekend...
