 |
|
Following on from various other 'nanny state' antics that we've had imposed on us, the government seem to be looking at making bicycle helmets compulsory. At the moment they are looking to bring in legislation that will only affect the under 16's, but have been talking of a later proposal aimed at adults.
What does everyone think? Would you/Do you wear one?

Yeah with Luke, not a chance!
Hell I'd not wear a helmet if I could see above 30mph. Yes I know I could come off and kill myself, but that would be my choice. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

I used mine when off road or messing about or night riding.
Its not new, OZ has had them compulsory for ages. If they make them compulsory they should remove the VAT on them.
I used to work in a bike shop and you would always get parents coming in buying helmets for their kids and trying to buy them lose so the kid grows into them ____________________ "because one stroke isnt enough and four strokes waste two" |

Used to wear them, saved my brain a couple of times (found a nice imprint from the front sprockets in my helmet once ), but don't wear it now. Can't really be bothered half the time, and most the time when I crash it doesn't affect my head so I see no point. Although I might start wearing one now after crashing and bashing my head. |

Considering that the law now states that any driver involved in an accident with a bicycle has to pay the cyclists hospital fees I think anything likely to minimise damage is a bloody good thing.
Some countries even make skaters and cyclists wear knee and elbow protectors ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |

So even if it wasn't your fault you gave to pay.
Also wouldn't it make more sense to change the law so that you don't have to pay for hospital fees rather than having another law in reaction to this law.
Anyway, if people want to ride without helmets it's fine with me, as I've said many times before suicide is legal. |

I'd always wear a helmet when on a motorbike, my OGK saved me from a broken jaw and mashed face when I hit a wall.
Even if there was an option, I'd always wear proper safety gear.
Push bike wise, no I don't wear one, I used to when I raced but that was years ago. If I ever ride one these days I don't wear a helmet and have successfully flipped over the bars, hit trees, fallen down ditches and various other things without hurting myself too badly ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes

No because I can't afford it one !
Have been riding every day for two years now mostly on the road and haven't fallen off once yet (touch wood) I guess it would be alot safer with one, but for some reason I just cant be bothered |
