Got my first real bike as many of you know honda bros 400 Smile

Had about 2 hours to myself getting used to it and decided to ask if she wanted to hop on and go for a little ride, she was nervous as she knows how i used to full throttle my 125 everywhere.

Took it slowly to start with gradualy increasing speed to get her used to it, then i hit a "private road" and took it up to about 90 she held on tight for a few seconds but slowly released her death grip shows she enjoyed it Very Happy

Maybe a new female in the biking scene Smile

People may not agree with me, but you're an idiot.

When you have a pillion who's life is in YOUR HANDS. You have as little as 2 hours riding on the most powerful bike you have rode after jumping from a 125 to a 400 with a license only 3 days ago, and the I assume first time you have carried a pillion. You then go to 90, on a bike you're not familiar with, with power your not familiar with, with a pillion, whom, being your partner I assume you actually care about?

Sorry to rain on your parade but I agree with Phil.Riding with a pillion makes the handling of the bike very different especially if you have someone who's never been on the back before.

Stages, stages, too soon for that in my opinion, get used to the bike first, then gentle rides with a pillion, its a different riding experience with someone one the back and as others have said your then responsible for someone other than yourself. I dont want to come across as a killjoy, I know your excited with your new bike so just take it easy and enjoy the experience.

Didn't carry any Pillions on my bike until about 2 month after passing test, mostly due to uncertainty of bike performance and handling. However I had carried pillions before that around a private woodland road and once before for a reason I won't go into so not really lack of experience with carrying them just learning the bikes little quirks and such.

Not saying you shouldn't carry pillions so soon after passing your test and getting a 400 but as with anything ride within your limits, confidence and keep common sense in check an extra 8-12stone on the back of the bike is going to increase stopping distances and affect handling bare that in mind.

Anyway glad you and her had fun Thumbs Up

Yeah I'm young and full of fun
but I'd like to be able to make it to 30 and still have fun. Rolling Eyes

The metalwork in both legs constantly remind me of what it was like to be young and having fun on a motorcycle.

Trying to share a bit of my experience so he doesn't have the same shit happen to him seemed like the right thing to do.

Get real.

He went 90. It's not a big deal.

Riding bikes is piss easy. If they were truly that dangerous, they would be banned. Most of you take it too seriously.

Relax, and enjoy the ride.

Remember it vividly. I risked my own life doing being young and stupid, not the lives of those that I cared about.

Sorry grandad, didn't mean to offend.

Riding bikes is serious business OP, you should have ridden at least a year before considering such a reckless act. Stop having fun immediately.

No, you are quite right it's not a big deal, I do it on a daily basis but not when I have someone I care about on the back.
But when you have been on a new bike for only a few days and after just passing his test and taking a pillion for the first time that's just fucking idiotic.
If you want to risk it, that's fine but I'd rather be alive.[/b]

You've been a member since yesterday and are already jumping down the throats of riders with most probably far greater experience than yourself. Me thinks your going to become a warped league contender.

Calling somebody grandad for being careful in times when your life and others is more important than getting 20mph over a speed limit. Maybe your just plain stupid and think riding flat out everywhere is the best idea in the world? Get real.

Yes, Riding is supposed to be fun but also shouldn't be an excuse when idiots, obviously like yourself, kill themselves trying to be the next country lane Rossi.

Rant over. Thumbs Up

Dude, you're a tit. I felt so sketchy taking my girlfriend out on my bike for the first time. I lent her all of my spare stuff so make sure she had some decent protection, and even then I didn't go fast, maybe 50mph max? Just for a few miles, making sure she was comfortable, before gradually speeding up, especially as it was her first time on the back of a motorbike.. don't you care that you had your girlfriend's life in your hands before you twisted that throttle?

Fair enough if it's just you on it, but be a bit cautious when somebody else is in your care too.

Whaaaaa?

Sorry forgot I must be a member with a no-life post count before I can have an opinion.

Clearly I'm an idiot rider based on one topic I've commented on. What sort of logic are you running on?

The OP can do as he wants, he' s passed his test. His choice, no one forced his passenger on the back, and he won't be the first fella to speed with 'his girl' on the back.

Get real. Get over it. You're not his guardian.

Going fast in a straight line takes no skill, I hit 110 in the first 30 mins of owning a big bike. Stop raining on the guys fun, people are aware of there limits, I dare say I would do some things with a pillion that would make your brain boil. If it ain't out of your comfort zone there isn't a problem IMO.

I wasn't confident enough to carry a pillion that soon. Took me a few weeks and even then it was an experienced pillion (Pernig off here) albeit on my CG125 Laughing

Took my o/h out on the ZZR and she loves it but was very nervous.

As long as you were in control and are aware of your limits fair play, I guess. I personally rode like a nun with her on the back.
