Hi guys

Our cbr 125 wont start if its in gear only neutral. Is it meant to do this or is it a fault? If it is what is the fix?

Thanks

If it has an electirc start then it should start in first gear. Only suggestions i can muster are:

Clutch in if you're wanting to start in first and making sure you're not attempting this with the side stand down.

Only obvious things i can think of atm...wait for the bright sparks Smile

This is normal behaviour for the bike - it's a safety measure.

The bike will not start in 1st gear or with the side stand down. If you do want to start the bike in 1st gear then pop the clutch in and press the electric start.
You can also start the bike with the side stand down (with a bit of difficulty from a cold engine) by popping in the clutch - but the engine will stop once you release the clutch so long as the side stand is still down.

If its in gear AND the stand isnt down AND the clutch is in, it should start.

All 3 are needed..

If it doesnt, there are 2 wires going to the clutch lever, take them off and join them together.

Try it now..

Could be your clutch switch is dead... or just not connected well. The CBR im using now doesnt start in gear for that exact reason.

Then it could be the switch on the clutch lever.
