 |
|
Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a new lid (as I have been for the past six months or so) and I've been hankering after a lid with an internal sun visor.
Initially I wanted a HJC-FS10, but was never really sold on HJC's quality. So then I looked to a Shark S19 Glow... and tried one on. It didn't fit properly.
So, I opened up my Hein Gericke catalogue the other day, and saw an AGV S4 SV, which is a reasonable price, looks good and has an internal sun visor. So I did what most people would do and searched for reviews on it. It seems it is a new model, but all of the reviews (mostly on forums) I can find say its unuseable through wind noise.
Has anybody here got one of either of those lids, and can you give your opinion on it please?
Also, any other suggestions of decent lids with an internal sun visor. Full face only, I'm not digging the flip front jobbies. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

I've just been looking for a lid. I have little to no experience to draw on though so am looking for a good fit primarily.
I too like the look of the AGV s4 and the stealth. I'll be popping into the dianese shop in manchester at the weekend to try them on.
Today I tried on a Scorpion exo 1000, which has an internal sun visor. I'm told the scorpion sizes come up small though which put me in a large size even though my noggin measured 58cm in the shop.
The cheapest I see a scorpion is £260
Sorry I cant be more help, but thats all I know ____________________ parp...brap....parp |

Schuberth and Caberg both do helmets with integral visors. I've got the Schuberth S1, it's heavier than my Shoei but suffers less with wind noise.

I bought an s4 sv a few weeks ago from racevisors for £180 with a free tinted visor. I'm really happy with it the quality is pretty good and the ventilation actually works it's not too noisy either I found,at least up to 90 mph or so. The whole lid can be taken apart for washing and you can buy different cheekpads for £20 if you want to change the fit,and the standard inner visor is quite dark and really usefull ,I found myself using the clear visor alot more then my last lid,I'd recommend it if it fits you right ofc |

MarJay, how did you find it? I'm looking at a S4 SV too, as they're on offer at the minute https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/839
I'm worried about the wind noise compared to my HJC. ____________________ 2009 Yamaha YBR125 -> 2000 SV650S -> 2005 Kawasaki ZX6R 636 |

Wind noise at speed will ruin your hearing even if it's a "quiet" lid. Earplugs! Use them! ____________________

I've got one too. Ripped the internal sunvisor out straight away though as I'm not keen on the whole top gun effect. I wouldn't buy one again tbh. The interior isn't as plush or comfy as my old arai and it feels cheaper too. It has lots of wind noise and gets very cold. Plus the chin bit scratches my ear everytime I take it off.
They do look good though, especially with a dark visor |

I've got a Caberg V2R with the internal sunvisor. Wind noise is very limted which is nice Not really used the visor much but echo the 'don't touch it' sentiments as your greasy prints will be a nightmare to get off!
Was actually looking for a Stealth when I bought the Caberg but none of the shops on the day had one in my size! |

the sun visor is poor. Atleast - its too dark for my liking, and also a dull grey tint. I have hardly used it, about 5 minutes worth over the last 1000 sunny miles.
+++wind noise, had to take back for adjustment, which was rubbish, adjusted myself, little better.
but it fits me very well. |
I'd say the visor is spot on... Don't get fobbed off with the 'adjustment' nonsense, say you want it sent back to AGV and get one of the newer batch which is quieter. Its not silent by any means, but it is a lot quieter and there is no whistle. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

cant be arsed.
annoyingly its been dropped a couple of times, not from any great hight, but enough to have loosened some paint inside and make the foam rattle.
In particular, using the carry bag, with the neck strap. The strap ripped off from the bag, due to poor stitching, and it hit the ground.
So while i might, just about, be able to take it back, I expect it would take a lot of effort.
Will be trying a different brand next time.
For the £200 I spent, why can it not include spare visors, costing the whole of £2-3 each to make...
it fits very well, and the seatbelt fastening is good, thats about it. |
