just thought i would share my day with the bike world.

i finished work early today to go visit my doctor, my dr is in dover, i work in west malling, 50 mile each way

well, all was well till a wee volvo pulls in front and requests a little chat at the side of the M20.

are you aware of what speed you were doing sir, was the question.

nope i reply......

well according to the vascar system in there blinged up neon clad football's wife mobile, they seem to think that my point to point average speed was 104.99 mph. they also said at one point they had to do 140mph to catch up with me.

now please dont get me wrong readers, i'm not telling this to boast, i'm am posting this as we are nearing summer and i would like to remind all of you out there to think and not do anything to get pulled that will loose your licence and spoil your summer.

anyway, am now waiting for my NIP to arrive in the post so...........

coming soon to a court near you......

Fuel..................

So are you selling the bike then? Smile

Create an account on Pepipoo so you can fill in the NIP Wizard when it arrives.

You probably won't get a written NIP as you have had a verbal one at the side of the road.

6 months to wait for your court date.

Gutted for you.

I never understand why they bother saying this. They could have been doing 200mph, 300mph, 400mph to catch you, it proves nothing other than they were going faster than you.

Confused

So true, i expect they say that to make the person feel bad at the road side as it is unlikelly to have any sway in court!

Sorry, that's 'up to' 6 months, may be sooner Sad.

They said 'we were doing 140mph and you were getting away' to me - though my bike was seriously down geared so hardly went faster than that, so not sure how much they were just trying to scare me.
They did say it didn't 'mean' anything though.

Sad eeerm you were speeding and got caught, yes ?

In this part of the world they have in court in days so I suppose you could consider yourself lucky.

Looks like a ban though. Sorry about that.

sorry to hear it mate.. it totally sucks

it begs the question.. what precicely is the point in shelling out thousands of pounds for a lovely machine when you can't open out it and give it a blast... its fucking stupid

the only real reason why the average joe gets caught speeding is a. because they have no 'normal' outlet to vent their steam or enjoy their toy and b. because sneaky bastards hide in the bushes or in their unmarked cars pointing their guns at any fecker that moves Evil or Very Mad

I think i'd be better to go buy a 98 R1 Very Happy

rip the engine out and replace with one from a c90 and chuck the litre lump in a canal Sad at least then I won't be funding the copeprs christmas party when i get caught having fun Sad Middle Finger

Fairly standard that over 100mph will mean a ban - but shouldn't be for too long at least.

I was told 30MPH over the posted speed limit is an instant ban, that was years ago when i was pulled for doing 58 in a 30zone. They told me I was lucky. Rolling Eyes

Erm, isn't there something along the lines that if they are recorded (by their own kit) doing > 70mph, WITHOUT blues/twos on, they are also breaking the law, as that technically poses an additional "risk" to other road users....

(I believe I may have seen that one used somewhere too)

Different forces have different rules, but yes over 100 is usually insta-ban time.

They seem to be having a purge in Kent this week - just today I saw a guy pulled up on the hard shoulder by traffic (dunnno what for tho) and then two mobile-camera vans in Gravesend one at Hall road/Painters Ash the other near the Library opposite the sports centre.

No mate, if they can justify it they can do whatever speed they want without breaking the law whether blues and twos or not.

Your more stupid than i first gave you credit for.
It would seem that the poor guy caught out actually missed a FULLY MARKED motorway patrol vehicle, there was no sneaking behind a bush.

And even why i understand it to be necessary, that basic concept irks me. Along with the whole "police driver/rider" attitude that can be found in some police "advanced" types...

firstly the christmas doo gag... that is a common one amongst people who get fined by the plod... i was hardly implying that as fact.

also. before you or anyone jumps onto a bandwagon the comment made about 'hiding behind bushes' was infact true but not in this context. The local plod around my area actually do hide in the bushes (and also behind village signs) two lads also park their car on someones concealed driveway and sit there for hours.

and Johnny... that comment was not leashed as a personal attack to you (as yours was to me..) i have read many posts and you are a pretty sound chap (especially with the DK incident etc...)

if i may also add... my rantings were not a verbal assault at the entire police community i actually have alot of respect for the police with quite a few people serving various ranks... however there are certain individuals of the 'traffic' section who do get my back up and it is to precisely those who that little rant was aimed at....

my underlying comment was the simple fact that if people had a reasonable place to vent such steam (like the germans have) perhaps (or more so hopefully) less people would get done and fined for speeding. I was also implying that there is an underlying financial motivation behind writing fines left right and center... even our local press reported how the police were running short of fine sheets because they had gone and wrote so many in a short period..

perhaps that clears the air a little Confused
