 |
|
These guys are going to let bikers vote for their dream bike specifications and eventually build the one with the most votes and put it into production.
Quite a unique concept, there's a form on their site that you can pick out the specs you'd like...

What would you build? |

Fail. You can't pick the drive type, nor cooling, nor how the valves are driven. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

If it is a 4 cylinder 2t it will need 4 exhausts. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Why would anyone NOT choose fully adjustable rear sets?... "No, that's disgusting, I only want my rearsets PART adjustable!"
Obviously they can just manipulate the figures to build the bike THEY want, or at least not the v5 1300 'charged 2 stroke everyone else might want, but will be silly expensive.
So they'll basically end up with a Jap engine in a custom frame - aka many 'specials', often seen in Streetfighters. Doesn't have to cost a silly amount of money.
This car was built along similar grounds (well, actually using a creative commons licence, I think!), but with a better buisness model, I suspect:

And yes it is a 'real car' and yes I would like one please !
(Oh and a desert to use it in too .) |

This thread actually inspired me to look for a frame kit for my RD350. The usual suspects like Spondon are around, but I've heard rumours that a 350 spondon frame kit costs £8000. Then there is Silverback engineering that will make me a bespoke alloy frame for £5000 including frame, swinging arm, tank, rear shock and spindles.
Then there is a guy in Australia who makes an alloy beam frame kit which costs AUS$5000 which is about three and a half grand in £ sterling.
All too expensive. What I really want is a Steel Trellis of Ducati Monster style. There is a guy on the internet who has built this:
Which is the closest I've seen. I'd so love to do that, but I don't have the time or skill to carry it out. Mind you, if I could find someone who could do the whole job for (a lot) less than £3500 I might consider it!

You never know, they might come back with something amazing.
Just look at what happened with SWAP.avi.
