My sons having probs with his RMR125. We have fixed issues with a bad earth but now the bike is a bitch to start and once it finally starts it and when you touch the throttle at idle it dies. If we use the choke its a bit better. We have stripped the carb and all jets seem clean and we are about to renew the spark plug (only done 3K mls) and would appreciate any input? Thumbs Up

Hi,

As above and you checked that enough petrol is getting through? As in the fuel lines? You say you checked the jets and all good. What RPM does it get to with the choke on before it dies? Also have you checked for compretion? My DT did the same, was ok on the choke but died Sad turned out it needed a top end rebuild, as this is a 4 stroke though and only done 3k i cant see it needing a top end re-build? You checked that nothing has come loose when fixing the bad earth?

Best of luck mate Thumbs Up

Thanks - all. Its a piston slide carb so no carb diaphram. I'm going to change the sparkplug - in case its knackered. Fuel flow seems fine and we have cleaned out the filter.

changed plug (NGK Iridium) and checked spark at plug. We got a spark but it wasn't as big as expected. Plenty of fuel getting through but bike wont start. Have had to take battery out to recharge it.

IIRC, Iridiums are generally pretty crap in two strokes. Get a proper, regular NGK in there.

Its not a 2 stroke, its a 4 stroke.

Had problems with a short circuit in my handlebar controls ( have been replaced) is it possible that this short could have had an impact on my battery despite giving okish results with VOM or usually from lights.

Engine does crank but doesnt turn over now. Carb has been cleaned several times now and I'm not getting anywhere

Any ideas?
