My suzuki gs125es needs a new loom, as there are many bodged connections. I cant find any for sale so im going to make one. Ive found a website which sells wire but what type and size of wire do i need.

Battery cable
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/752/category/124

For the main part of the loom i have a choice between
Standard PVC cable
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/66/category/11

Or Thin wall cable
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/70/category/114

So what type and size of wire is recommended?

Thanks

I don't have much experience with an entire loom but I needed to make a new connection between my voltage regulator & alternator for my BMW F650 & I used this;

They sell all kinds of wire at different ratings

I would not go for the thin wall stuff - less insulation means it could be rubbed away more easily if a wire fouled part of the frame or something.

I've built a loom for an old car and a bike. quite a satisfying project once you've got started. I ordered most of my bits from this guy:

https://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php

Great service and pretty easy to use website.

If you want to do it on the cheap, go to a scrappy and grab as long a length of the main loom as possible from something big and german, grab the relays and fuses too. the front to back section of the loom will contain loads of different colours and gauges - plenty to sort a small motorbike.

Thinwall; better for keeping looms compact than resisting abrasion, play to its advantages!

Solder every spade/bullet connector. do not rely on crimping alone

heat-shrink tubing and cable ties are your friends

good luck
