 |
|
As the title suggests, I have a Motorcycle Theory Test booked for Thursday 29th.
Sure I'll be fine, but, secretly bricking it. Not because I'm worried about doing the test - it'll just be something out of the ordinary for me!
I've decided I don't want to be caught out by the new licensing regs, so I've vowed to get my A2 before they bring in the bull.
So, here it begins. My quest to rid the L-plates.
After that I'll book my Mod 1.
Then I'll have to save my pennies again for Mod 2 - if I pass the Mod 1. |

More how to get sued after getting the 100-compressions-a-minute wrong and your road-side accidentee dying.
I really don't get the first-aid questions. leave it to the professionals.
Oh well. L's off in no time.
And, I guess less secretly now! |

Good luck! As long as you've revised the theory is pretty easy. I hate the hazard perception personally but even when the "10 pointer" flagged up as ZERO for dodgy clicking on my test I still managed to pass...I was in a state of shock & very nearly caused a scene because it was BS!
I'm sure you'll be fine |

"What are the environmental advantages of this vehicle?"
Seriously. That's in the question bank. Not "When on a motorycle, what should you look out for when you see this symbol?" (tracks!). No, ecomentalist propaganda is waaaay more important than that. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Nuclear power is one of the cleanest source of energy there is, what on Earth you talkin' about Willis? Do your research. . A topic for another thread.

Only by carbon footprint standards.
Its byproducts have to sit in an 18-foot deep pool of water for 10 years whilst they cool and loose their radioactivity. Even then they're not safe to dispose of in a natural environment, so they have to encase it in concrete.
The water is then heavily radiated and known as "heavy water", dispensed to create Nuclear Weapons. It's the opposite scale of clean. My intestines are cleaner. I did my research. |
By carbon footprint standards, nuclear energy is one of the most dirty types of energy if you include everything such as the building of the plant, the mining of the material, it's production, usage of the plant and eventual disposal.
However, if you only include plant and disposal, it is one of the cleanest by far as that's pretty good as it's going to remain that way whereas say a fossil fuel plant just pumps it out for all the years it is working.
As for the pools of water, yes, they do, but they are all lined SO much that the water table can't get anywhere NEAR them. Also, most of them are around 40 feet deep. You realise they are built so protected (even where the reactor is built) so that the water table has no way of being impacted by it.
Thirdly, when they are moved to dry cask storage, they are done. Those dry casks are impenetrable and you could sit one in your living room for as long as you want and you'd suffer nothing from it. We currently have Sellafield which yes, could be better but given how old the facility is it's doing pretty well, a purpose-built facility would be fantastic and reduce emissions to zero. America has Yucca Mountain which should they ever actually start storing in will have doses of <0.25mrem per year!
Heck, even if it takes them a few decades to do that or find something else we know that the casks they are store in are pretty much impenetrable and safe for decades and decades to come.
For example, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as3VQeYfd2c
Those nuclear casks sure know how to take a beating now they are sorted out!
Nuclear is good and it's definitely the future, we have enough Uranium left for centuries and there are plenty other radioactive materials that would make excellent fuels that we don't use as a matter of course as they'd require a slightly different setup but if you include those we have enough for millions of years of energy.
Also, I don't know where on Earth you get the idea that heavy water is used for nuclear weapons. Heavy water is just standard water enriched with deuterium (H2*), heck, it's even safe to drink for the most part.
May be worth making a topic about this, not quite the topic to be doing it in! !
