How much roughly for a full bike respray in 1 colour?

How much for a respray in 1 colour if I prepared the panels first?

P.S Its for a Honda NC30

Very Happy

I know of a few people that have said they have prepared the body themselves. Its fairly easy to do just time consuming. I think Confused

Not really Neutral But I dont see it being that difficult from what I have read online? Also someone I know works in a bodyshop repair place so I was just going to ask him for some advice then get him to spray it after I have finished preparing the bike.

The problem with prepping it yourself is that you have zero comeback if they do a sh*tty job of the paintwork. Any flaws and they'll blame it on your efforts (and probably with reason). It's much better to let them do all the work and swallow the expense.

I do agree but I still need to work out the costs of both ideas so I can see which is the best way to go. It doesnt have to be 100% just aesthetically pleasing.

I'd love to go to dream machine but I cant justify the cost for what I want to do with the bike. Laughing

If he works in a bodyshop then get him to do it with you? That's what I'm doing with a mate who is doing my panels for me Smile

If its just one colour then the prep will probably be the expensive bit...

That is is, but you can buy a few cheap tools to help.

If you totally DIY on the cheap about 150 quid for everything to strip, clean, smooth, undercoat, colour, varnish and hand polish.

Youtube prepping bike panels..

I watched a guy on there... was pretty in depth too, grades of sandpaper, how to do it, different directions for different layers and finishes.

At work so cant search youtube Rolling Eyes but its on there, just put in paint bike panels, paint fairings.. look specifically for a prepping one.

I sanded one of my panels with the intention of respraying myself. It was an absolute ball ache. Took probably 10 hours of sanding just for one lower fairing.

In the end I couldn't be bothered spending more time and money on it buying all the paint and doing it myself, so I gave it to a guy I know who does cars professionally. He charged me £70 for the panel respray and I figured at least I get a professional job.

It turned out shit, orange peel, didn't match the colour on the rest of the bike, and then he said it was because I'd damaged the plastics by sanding it wrong.

Personally I'd never go that route again.

If you want it done super cheap, just do the whole lot yourself and accept that its going to be a lot of work for an average result. There's loads of good guides online and it's not too difficult to do a half decent job if that's all you're looking for.

Otherwise just take it to a pro shop and get them to do everything.

I ended up doing 90% of the grunt work, getting a shit paint job, and still spending a fair bit of cash. It wasn't worth it at all.

Alternatively just buy a set of replacement fairings from china Thumbs Up

Bad sanding wouldn't cause orange peeling, nor would it cause the colour to be different...
Bad application and poor colour matching :/
