Very much sounds like the points/timing are way out.The carb mixtures may be too.The clutch issue maybe because you have not assembled the cluth operating lever inside the case.
You could try heating up the plug then starting it without choke and see if its any better,if it is then the carb needs adjusting.Points are usually neglected on older small 2 strokes due to the lack of accessability through the flywheel cover. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. The flywheel will have some 'timing marks' on it.Thesse could be two samll lines. You need to set the point s gap with feeler gauges to the correct size
.Then you can adjust the timing.
The the points need moving a tiny bit left or right to set the timing.
Another way is to use a battery and bulb across the points gap to check that they seperate as the ignition marks on the flywheel line up .The bulb should just dim out when the timing is nearly accurate.you could use a timing lig ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. The poor starting and revving sounds like you are running very lean, almost too lean to even run at all.
This is a disc-valve engine as I recall with the carb in the side of the engine. Make sure that the carb is sealed tight onto the mount as if it leaks air at the mount it will cause the fault you describe. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

the F and T marks are used for the timing,if my brain damaged memory is correct then the T mark is for when the points open when the engine is'nt running, sometimes called static timing and the F mark is for when you rev the engine a bit and check the timing with a timing light.
because these oldy bikes use points they also use mechanical advance/retard units which are little spring tensioned weights that move the timing cam when the engine runs, some small two strokes dont use an advance retard mechnaisims ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
