This is confusing.
Bought a new spark plug after checking the haynes which the correct one is, it said CR8ES, ordered it, and the thread is too small :S

Took the existing one out (should have anyway to double check but i trusted Haynes) and the one in there is a DR8ES.

Why?

Haynes says CR8ES, ebay search for GZ125 spark plug all comes up with CR8ES as well, but mine is a larger one?
Has my engine been messed with or something?

This place has it right:

https://www.patternparts.net/p-Suzuki_GZ_125_NGK_DR8ES_W_K8_98_08-15344.aspx

How annoying!

try the NGK partfinder;

https://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/motorbikes_scooters.php?type=SPARK%2520PLUGS&manufact=SUZUKI&engine=125&model=GZ125%2520W%252C%2520X%252C%2520Y%252C%2520K1-K3%2520Marauder

Looks like the Haynes is quoting the plug for 2005 & on whereas the plug is a different one for 1998-2003

I'd be surprised if the Haynes doesn't mention both if you look carefully

Yea ive worked it out now, the frame and registration for my bike is 2005 which is correct, but the fitting for the spark plug is for the older GZ which was made up until 2003, which means either:

It has an old engine in it, at least two years older than the bike its on

Or

The engine was made in 2003, then Suzuki put it on a 2005 bike when it was new (which wouldnt be the case)

Feel a bit bummed about it now to be honest, finding out ive got an older engine in my bike, unless there is another explanation?

When you say the "frame", do you mean the model year digit on the VIN?
