Okay so here is the scoop I pulled up at home and the bike died with a what felt like a last sigh. When I tried to start it again the starter relay just clicked. It would not push start. I tried to jump it off of my car and the bike just made a big click WTF?????

Sometimes the battery is so flat it can't be bumped or jumped. Get it charged if you have a charger!

If the battery is not the problem what else would it be. rectifier, starter relay?

If the battery has gone flat then I'd say the reg/rec probably isn't charging it. Starter relay is probably fine if it's clicking, as that means it is making contact when required to but the battery can't supply the power to turn the starter, so it just clicks away.

If it won't jump start off a correctly connected and charged car battery then it isn't the rectifier or the battery that is causing the problem.

Did you connect the car battery directly to the bike battery?
Do any of the tell tale lights come on? Can you use the indicators or headlight?

yes and every thing is a go until I hit the start button then the bike clicks and even puts a hard load on the car.

Sounds more like a short in the starter or starter relay. Bypass the relay and attach the jump leads directly to the starter motor and see if it turns the engine over.

I found a short at the rectifier connection. The wire going to the stator was melted away at the connector, which possibly shorted out at the frame. Should I check the stator or just replace the wire which Looks like I would need another connector .

You should check everything that's near/related/might be affected. I would, certainly. No point changing connector and even stator, and finding when you switch it on again it fries something else cos of another short.

I took the stator cover off and it smells like gas almost thought it was at first but then the magnets have some hard plastic around them like something melted is that good?

It's really hard to see anything in those photos but the magnets are held in place but a sort of resin so I guess that might look like melted plastic.

Just out of interest I would connect the starter motor directly to a battery just to make sure that its working. It may be that a short or excessive drain from another circuit may have cause the rectifer wire to burn out.
