My latest Fudge Wub

Bought for a measly £350 as a non runner, no mot or tax and generally very poorly and untidy.
Only before pic I have.

Spent lots of time but very little money. Mainly cleaning up 7 years of crap since it's been stood up.
Last time it saw the road was 2005. Last time it was taxed was 2006 (ran out feb).

Emptied tank, replaced fuel lines, rebuilt carbs with new diaphrams (which I had anyway) and a ultrasonic bath.
Removed wheels and greased up all parts as they should be.
Removed filler cap and sat it in wd40 for a day and it all freed up and the seal came back to life.
Knocked the engine back with a wire brush and tidied it up to get rid of all the flakey white bits.
Stripped and cleaned all caliper internals. Seals are good so didn't change yet. Back was still sticking so have since ordered a seal kit (£6).
Exhaust was completely shot so sourced a second hand Vance and Hines for the princely sum of £130 delivered and got a set of engine bars thrown in for £25.
Painted the rear grab handles in satin black (already got loads)
Took a wire brush (copper) to the chain and spent about 3 hours knocking off all the old residue. Sprockets are good.

So here she is.

All the above work was done in the last two weeks. Tef visited and saw her before all was done.
Hard to think that 3 weeks ago this bike was literally on it's way to the scrapyard and I had a bit of 'wheeling and dealing' to get it.
Also hard to believe it now has this Wink in such a short time

With this at 9am

and sorted at the mot station with a handful of tools I threw in my jacket. Cool (I did suspect it would fail)
Advisory issued on *cough* noisy exhaust....

So, there you go. Bit more of a tell than a show but it's a cheap, reliable hack brought back from the dead. 23 years old and Yamaha's flagship machine is to live once more.
Total cost to me apart from the parts I already had.
£541 inc. the mot.

In a bit of a rush as I want to tax it before lunch so I'll be back later. Thumbs Up

Sadly, no Sad

I did take quite a few but I made the mistake of leaving them on the camera card and I took a load of pics of some games I'm selling on ebay and automatically wiped the pictures without thinking.

Kicking myself now but there will be more to come as I plan to improve it further. No plans to get it back to 'mint' but a vast improvement over the current pictures. Thumbs Up

Good work! The proper wheeler dealer thing to do would be to stick it on eBay for £700 and buy your next project.

I did think that to be honest...but

I think I'll keep it over winter though and smoke it about as well as tidy some more bits up ready for early spring and possibly put it up on ebay for about (*cough*) £1200 and take a knock so someone thinks they got a bargain Shifty

It's only got 30k which is barely a pee in the ocean for one of these Very Happy
