Not really sure what to make of this as i don't know. Basically when i press the front brake, there is a knocking sound coming from the bars, now it doesn't seem to do it on the flat but more so if I'm on the brakes downhill.

Could this be my headstock bearings on the way out?

Could need tightening, normally the indicator of worn headbearings is notchiness with the bars straight, and the bike is unwilling to turn into corners, a good way to tell is to get the front end off the floor and try putting the bars just off straight, if they move back to dead straight on their own i'd replace them.

Sometimes a slight knocking from a front end is the pads in the calipers moving forward (obviously more on worn calipers/pads/pins etc).

As previously mentioned, best to get the front off the ground and check properly.

A knock means that there is some 'play' in something, somewhere.

It could be the headstock bearings, need adjusting, could also be that the fork buishes are shot; could be that brake caliper mounts are loose; floating caliper pins are worn; floating brake disk bushes worn; pads loose, or any number of anomolies, like a cable is fretting on a plastic cover!

So dont jump to conclusions; do the checks and eliminate the possibilitoes in turn to be sure.

Exactly the same symptoms on the YBR - if you are at a standstill, and hold the front brake on whilst pushing down/forward hard to pump the suspension, does it happen? In my case it still did, and re-torquing the headstock bearings sorted the issue. Thumbs Up
