Coming home from work tonight,I flicked up from 3rd-4th and my gear "thing",came off. Shocked Shocked

This bolt had come undone:

Question is; Should it be attached to a nut,the other side?

I managed to get home and tighten it with toolage,I'm wondering if I'm missing a nut?

I need to use the bike tomorrow. HELP.

If it's threaded behind it, you shouldn't a nut, but could always stick one on if it won't hit anything.

Or some locktite etc.

I've had various of them work off over time, so just something to keep an eye out for and consider if you notice your shifting feeling a bit sloppy.

Is there not the same thing at the other end of the rod to compare?

Shouldn't there be a rubber boot over it too? All my bikes have had them all greased up inside a little rubber cover.

I have the same arrangement on my Harris rearsets.I bought some rose joint rubbers from Yamaha for these rearsets part number 2H9-18154-00.When the same bolt loosened off when I first bought the bike second hand, the rubber boot held the bolt in place so that I did not lose it.

FYI, as whats been said its a rose joint.. The Hondas are not too bad but becasue of the vibey-ness of the SP they do have a habbit of loosening things off the bike. Some weaker threadlock will do the job well.

I personally never bothered with the rubber boot, just put some threadlock on and was done.

Hope your enjoying the bike, I miss mine Sad

Thanks for ALL the advice guys. A dab of loctite and a tighten seems to have worked. Very Happy
