It's common for new riders. Unusual strain on your wrists coupled with holding the bars too tight. Grip the bike with your legs and take the weight off your arms. Relax your grip.

It depends whether it's your arm position, or strain from holding the throttle on. If it's the latter, try a cramp buster aka cruise control:

https://www.sierrabmwonline.com/images/Crampbuster.jpg

It's just a plastic tab that you can press with the heel of your hand instead of gripping the throttle. Simple, effective for some people - I like mine.

Stupid question I know but are you reposition your hand after accelerate or decelerating?

Having had a Colles fracture to my right wrist several years ago, I also get wrist pain on anything other than short journeys. I wear a neoprene wrist support which helps somewhat, but doesn't get rid of it completely.

your gloves may be too tight.
whenever i wear my leather jacket with summer gloves i will sometimes get discomfort after a while on the bike. the arms of my jacket are a little long and the strap on my gloves sits just where jacket cuff is so i can't do the Velcro up properly without it being too tight.

Unless you have body issues you should be able to lower your forearms. This can help in two ways 1 you control the bike better and 2 the weight is transferred elsewhere. You may be riding too upright, arms outstretched style.
Let the tank take some weight when braking. Use the pegs to shift your weight. Shake-out the wrists at the lights.

also have you made sure that your brake/clutch controls are in the right position for you?? ie, should be somewhere near a straight line along your forearm, thru your wrist, and thru the brake/clutch lever. In theory you shouldn't need to arch your wrist forwards or bent backwards when reaching for the levers.

I've had this exact issue previously with mountainbikes, and more recently when I first bought the Bandit

Definitely worth checking this out, my brake/clutch levers weren't in the right place for me on my bike and it gave me no end of wrist pain. My mate helped me adjust them and now I only get achey wrists after particularly long rides.

I recommend these

https://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x21/adoptagreyhound/Transcription/HandExerciser.jpg

I keep one in the car and one in the house.20 squeezes each hand, then another 20.
As I ride enduro you need the strength in your wrists. These also help to build up the muscles in the forearms.
If you cannot find any of the above, squeeze a tennis ball.

I found myself suffering from wrist pain while doing my DAS - my instructor explained it was probably largely due to being too tense and gripping too tightly.

Ever since then I use a variety of techniques to alleviate it - including the old "funky chicken" bit with the arms, shaking the wrist / hand when stationary at lights and just generally trying to relax a bit more.

Time, experience and confidence have helped massively - though I do like the look of those cramp busters !

When my grandad used to go scrambling he found his wrists were really weak, so he got 2 pairs of pliers and whenever he had a quiet moment at work he'd sit and squeeze them. Got to the point where he could get the ends of the handles to meet.
Same principle, but it meant he didn't have to buy any fancy kit (that probably didn't exist back then).

One of the first thing my instructor taught me (this is going back a bit now). Is to reposition your hand so your wrist is straight, both your hands should be in a comfortable position. Just sort of roll your finger around the throttle so your wrist is straight again.

Failing that, seeing as we are punting stuff that we use.

https://www.powerballs.com/

Builds your upper body up a treat, including your forearm and wrist.

I have tendonitis now which is slowly improving, the doc said most likely cause was gripping too tightly when I started riding a couple of months ago (which I did!)

I've started to relax now when I'm riding and my wrist is slowly getting a little better but it will take time and I have to rest it well.

Par for the course I guess Smile
