Just got my bike through it's MOT and instead of getting an MOT certificate I got, new just out yesterday, an MOT receipt. You can go on line and check the MOTs out now and also get a text message reminder, looks crap though as it just a piece of white A4 with a bit of writing on that can easily get lost within other paperwork.

I had a car MOT done a week and a half ago and got a proper MOT certificate. I'd go back to them and ask for a proper certificate if I were you.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

So would I. My FJ went through it's ticket saturday just gone and I got a proper certificate.

EDIT, just looked on the Vosa site. Trying to save costs.

I would do what I do with my other important docs. Keep them folded in a folder (white side out) and write on the back of them in red pen.

no its fine the MOT paper changed at midnight sunday to just a plain printed paper..
they also have any advisories on them too and says it is basically a recipt.
they look like something my sister just printed off now tbh, and any tom dick of harry could easily forge one so you now have to check on line if you are looking at a new motor..

As the others have said the certificates have stopped as of the 16th, all you get is some shitty piece of paper. One good thing is that the advisories are now also printed on the one pass bit so if you buy a car/bike the seller cant throw away the advisory sheet like they used to do.
All to do with saving money form the government, the test slots still cost the garage the same amount of money, but now the garage has to use its own paper to print the receipts off.... Evil or Very Mad
Lots will get lost as they are just too flimsy and easily damaged, and every time you need a duplicate its ten quid.

... Who then out-sourced the whole chebang to a massively expensive IT company (who no doubt paid for some fabulous days out for the committee members) at a cost of billions of pounds.
