I have a honda deauville nt700 2006 which needs restricting. The kit is a throttle restrictor at £170 plus 1 1/2 hrs labour if fitted by honda. Seems expensive. Anyone any diy suggestions?

Wow, £170 for 50p of parts, plus 90 minutes labour to screw it on? That makes Fi International look like the model of fair and reasonable vendors. Shocked

Here's what I'd do. Call your local dyno place, since you'll presumably be wanting the same kind of meaningless bit of paper that Fi or Honda would provide. Ask them for their advice - they've doubtless done this before.

If you're looking for ideas, find where the throttle inner emerges from the cable near the carbs/throttle bodies. Could you crimp a fishing weight (split shot) on to it to stop it withdrawing into the outer cable?

check ebay for a used kit. Since yours is a 700, probably fuel injected, make sure it includes the throttle stop as well as washers.
Expect it to be around £30-50, and fit yourself.

Take to local dyno place. Cost me £15 for printout, 32.7bhp Smile

Depends. The ER6 is ECU and throttle stop.

A throttle stop by itself should work, and is the simplest option for a DIY bodge. It's also the easiest to have "fall off" when you judge it appropriate. Shifty

Actually, now that I think about it, isn't the ER6 ECU, throttle stop and swapping a bit of wiring around? No, I have no idea why it's so complicated. Confused

What a stupid idea. IIRC, the Speed Four was throttle stop only, and the SV650 (later models) were done with ECU. So why both? Cost? Gobbins.

all triumphs are done by throttle stop if you use the factory kit, but surely honda do their own kits for this bike, have you asked a honda dealer?

Easiest bike in the world to restrict to 33bhp, just pull one of the spark plug caps off Laughing
