Wow, £170 for 50p of parts, plus 90 minutes labour to screw it on? That makes Fi International look like the model of fair and reasonable vendors.
Here's what I'd do. Call your local dyno place, since you'll presumably be wanting the same kind of meaningless bit of paper that Fi or Honda would provide. Ask them for their advice - they've doubtless done this before.
If you're looking for ideas, find where the throttle inner emerges from the cable near the carbs/throttle bodies. Could you crimp a fishing weight (split shot) on to it to stop it withdrawing into the outer cable? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

check ebay for a used kit. Since yours is a 700, probably fuel injected, make sure it includes the throttle stop as well as washers.
Expect it to be around £30-50, and fit yourself.
Take to local dyno place. Cost me £15 for printout, 32.7bhp |

Depends. The ER6 is ECU and throttle stop.
A throttle stop by itself should work, and is the simplest option for a DIY bodge. It's also the easiest to have "fall off" when you judge it appropriate. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Actually, now that I think about it, isn't the ER6 ECU, throttle stop and swapping a bit of wiring around? No, I have no idea why it's so complicated. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Easiest bike in the world to restrict to 33bhp, just pull one of the spark plug caps off |
