I'm not really all that bothered about fumes in general round London, I bang around town in both rush hours all the time, and never notice fumes and the like.
But this morning I was just getting onto the Canning Town Flyover, and squidging myself in between a fairly big truck and something else in the middle lane at EXACTLY THE MOMENT when the truck decided to send out a huge gust of black fumes.
Luckily I had my visor on half-mast so it didn't get in my eyes so bad, and I spent most of the time cursing through the ensuing cloud of gunk, and got past him safely enough - but several hundred yards later I could swear I started having palpitations ... it wasn't really bad, certainly not bad enough to stop and get over myself - but I wasn't really sure for several minutes whether it was caused by the fumes or just the anxiety of squeezing in between big traffic moving fast (which I do all the time anyway).
Anybody else experienced weird physical symptoms whilst in contact with fumes from other vehicles? Or is the excitement of filtering getting too much for the old bird? ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

I expect it was a reaction to the incident more than anything.
The black cloud is soot caused by the lorry being given a bootful of 'throttle', and though there are fumes coming from the engine they are no worse than what you cannot see coming from all of the other engines. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I notice the smog and generally disgustingness every time I go back to the west midlands from sunny Norwich.
London must be awful. I bet the women have horrible skin.
There was a study that showed that exercising close to a busy road caused the person excessing to breath in 10 times the amount of pollution they might normally. ____________________ Motorcycle headlight bulbs and HIDs

That's what you get for living in dirty, smelly London
You don't get stuck in traffic long enough up here to have to inhale that crap. |
