Wait it out...

I had a similar thing when I changed bikes, my divvy was under a 'first bike' scheme (divvy, bandit, ER5 and the likes) - when I changed bikes, the underwriter wouldnt insure the new bike so I had to cancel! Luckily the underwriters were OK as it was their choice not to insure, there was no get out payment, I had to take the hit though and waved byebye to my first 4 months no claims!

No you paid for the ins in one go.... What you have done is taken a loan to pay it...

Never pay for ins monthly.......

Sorry, but you're probably shagged. It's a common story, a lot of people get caught out by this.

Read your documentation carefully. I agree that you are likely to find that you're not actually paying the policy monthly, you're paying off an unsecured loan that you inadvertently took out to buy it.

Even if you cancel the policy now, the derisory refund you'll get isn't going to cover the outstanding payments on that loan.

You may be lucky and you're actually paying the policy itself in instalments and can just walk away from it, but you're going to have to bust out the policy documents and read what it was that you agreed to. Best of luck.

Thats left me confused now as i thought i was paying the broker who has already payed my insurance in full to the company or am i wrong :S
going to have to digg out the paperwork

That sounds right. The broker paid the underwriter up front for the actual policy, and now you're paying off the broker, plus interest. What you owe the broker is independent of the policy, and cancelling it won't cancel the debt.

But give it a good read, there may be a get-out clause hidden away.
