Well the old plod Police caught me speeding Crying or Very sad

I guess it was only a matter of time I suppose. I was driving my car when I got stopped. Get this though, the bugger clocked me for speeding whilst I was overtaking. Confused I always thought you could exceed the limit whilst overtaking. Guess I was wrong. Rolling Eyes

Yes. Yes you were.

I wish the law did say
<surfer dude finding nemo turtle voice>"Yeah... the speed limit thing doesn't count like when you're overtaking dude... or when you're having a gnarly time or when you're chasing a radical wave. Yah. </surfer dude finding nemo turtle voice>

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'm sure it says in the highway code somewhere that you had to carry out an overtaking move "as quickly and safely as possible".

Do you think I took that too literally? Laughing

I think you'll find you did. Wink

If you are in a 60 limit then the fastest speed possible is 60mph - so if you are going as quickly as possible then you are going 60mph.

I'd like to see you try that angle in court. Thumbs Up

Unfortunately I believe the highway code is a guide to the law and doesn't have any legal standing itself. Sad

No it isn't law, but iit is often used to support law. A breach of the Highway Code is not an offence in itself, but it is often used to show that by having breached the regulations in the HC the offence has been substantiated and therefore the offender is guilty of that offence.

Been used many times to good affect!

Well if you were going 79 then you were probably over taking a car going about 60. The law would argue that considering the speed limit is 60 you had no need to over take.
