My 600 divvy is leaking a little oil from the air box. There is a plastic pipe type connection at the front on the fuel tap side where there is a little oil coming out after a run.IS there meant to be a pipe connected to it? if so where does it go please.

Thank you all for any help Karma

I'm not familiar with the divvy, but a standard set up on bikes is to have the crankcase breather venting into the airbox, so any oil mist from here is taken back into the engine and burnt.

There may also be a drain hose on the pre-filter side of the airbox, which may be what you are seeing with oil draining from it.

A small amount of oil is acceptable. If there is a lot of oil then it is probably overfilled, and the excess is being vented into the airbox.

Heres the fix from the Divvy owners club,

Crankcase Breather Pipe Oil Leak 600

block off the rocker cover breather (as on USA models) and fitted, of all things, a bit of garden hose to the crankcase breather. Same bore, but more robust and braided, so hopefully can't kink. I think the return of my problem came because the large breather was kinked. Having done the clutch today as well, I could see the CC breather is very well baffled, so oil shouldn't be able to get out through there, only gases.

Bodged an arrangement of bolt and washers to block the stub bolt in the rocker cover, and put a countersunk self-tapper in the T joint where that breather normally goes in. If the thread cut doesn't seal it, the countersink wedged into the end.

The thing which is bugging me is the tube thing coming from the air box (1") long on the front fuel tap side.Is there meant to be a pipe on here? And is the crank case breather the pipe which comes out by the oil filler area?

Thank you again for you help guys Very Happy

Cheers astra you are a star Very Happy

Also found this on the divvy forum could be my problem

[b][b]don't know how much difference there is from my 96 to yours, so this might or might not help.

Mine began to drip oil only when warm - from a drain which comes from the bottom of the airbox, down the back of the gearbox and out through a little bracket just behind the rear brake pedal. This gets mentioned in another thread on here that I am too tired to look up right now, so:-

Take off the tank, take off the airbox and clean through the two breather pipes that go into the bottom of the airbox - a big one from the top of the gearbox and a smaller one from the top of the engine. They tend to fill up with the mayonnaise that forms when condensation gets into the oil and emulsifies. (I drew a strip of cloth through the tubes on a fine wire and then flushed them through with the blood of an Audi driver) Clean the inside of the air box. Clean or replace the airfilter while you're in there. Reassemble.

Tools required: 8mm 10mm 12mm and 14mm sockets. Long nose pliers. Rags.

For me the problem was solved, and the already smooth-running engine went a whole step further up the smooth-running scale.

Just looked in my service manual, crank case breather hose is above and left of your oil filler, and it looks looks like there should be a drain hose coming from the left side of the air box, fuel tap side page 3.12 fuel & exhaust of the haynes service manual.
