Hi All,

Finally got myself a new bike, after mulling it over for quite some time. It was a tough choice between the VFR400 or Hornet, but trying to find a VFR locally was challenging to say the least, especially one in a worthwhile condition! So I went with my other choice, Honda Hornet. This cropped up two days ago, went to see it yesterday and got it delivered a few hours later.

PICTURES!

And there we go!
Very happy with it, but dying to ride it - just waiting for insurance docs.

They were checking my details and then sending it to me. I've received it now, but need to print them off. Really wish I'd bought a printer!

Nice bike! Is that the 2001 model? My first (and so far only) bike is a Hornet. Don't do what I did and come off in the first week of owning it Very Happy

99 Model and I don't intend to fall off, but why break the habit of a lifetime Laughing How do you rate the Hornet? How long have you owned it?

I've got an '04 and love it. I've only had it since October but I racked up 2000 miles before November. I don't know how much of that was excitement of owning a bike and how much was the bike itself!

It's totally standard but feels a dream to ride. Can't compare it to any other bikes but it handles really nicely at low speeds for filtering, it's got enough presence that people know I'm coming past them, throttle responds lovely it's so far never failed in any respect apart from staying upright when I decide to fall over. At more cruisey dual-carriageway and motorway speeds (or even just A-roads) it always feels stable and you can have good fun on it. I can't fault it to be honest with you.

Took it out before the snow came after about a month of not riding it and decided to have some fun. Silly speeds in no time but never scares you. You'll have lots of fun on that!

Opinions eh..well all got 'em.

I considered a Hornet, well before I'd even done a CBT. They look like an natural evolution of my CB250RS...just as a motorcycle should look. Simple.
They're nimble aren't they? For a city commuter bike.

BUT
That looks crass.

[gotta go..bath is running]

Yellow was definitely my first choice when it comes to colour, though I was on the verge of buying a blue one. Thought I think my yellow helmet and yellow textiles are going to be a little too much on it, so reason to buy some near gear!

Not to my liking I'm afraid, but as long as you're happy with it who cares what anyone else thinks.

Hoping my first big bike is gonna be a Hornet once I pass the DAS. My friend has a '99 one and he's looking to upgrade in late spring/early summer, so got my eye on it.

Great bike, horrendous colour - but that's just my opinion...

enjoy your bike... and at least you're at minimal risk of having a SMIDSY on that?! Thumbs Up Wink

Like a lot. I do like those where the lamps move with the handle bars.

I rode it today - incredible.

Also nearly came off it too, accelerated way too hard, back wheel slipped, it wobbled something stupid, but I managed to get it back upright thankfully. I love this bike though!

My mate nearly fell off the back of his... was so used to his 125 that when he got this and let rip he slid right back on the seat and arms were at full stretch Laughing

I know to be careful when I get mine now

Needs round single headlight, black or silver bars and cut down exhaust then it will look sexy. Thumbs Up
But even as it is i quite like it.

Congratulations. Hornets are great...

That one, however, looks hideous. The infill panels under the tank to the radiator look disgusting, the lights are an abomination and the Renthal style bars stick out like a sore thumb.

If you ever got SMIDSY'ed, a picture of your bike would be evidence enough to convict the other driver of driving without due care.

Do your eyes a favour and buy up your local Halfords' entire stock of matt black paint.

Mine's got a single round headlight and I was thinking I'd prefer the double one on his bike!

Not sure on the cutdown exhaust though, I'm quite fond of the standard.
