Well it looks like my brother is in trouble. He's got a letter saying that he was zapped doin 57mph in a 40 zone. Any idea what sort of fine or points he's gonna get? The road that the camera is on is a dual carriageway that shouldn't really have a speed camera, it's safe to do 60 there. Bloody cameras.

Probably standard £60 fixed penalty and 3 points...

My Dad did 58 in a 40 zone and that's what he got.

Could be worse!

Technically I think they can give you 3 points per every 15mph you're over the speed limit. Or so the plod said when I got captured. I was 13mph over at the time so I got 3 points plus £60 fine.

If your brother has a provisional licence he can get up to 12 points before it's taken away from him.

I got upto 57 when I was catching up with my instructer on my CBT (first time on the road) on a cual carrageway. I thought the limit was national but I was confused and didn't see the 40mph signs...oops!
Who would have gotten in trouble for that though, as I'd technically not passed my CBT yet?

I'm sure its now only 6 points for provisional licences, as well as the first two years after you get a full licence. If you get 6 points and loose your licence, you loose it completely. After the ban you have to retake both a theory and an extended practical.

It was on the Nantgarw hill (Caerphilly) going up. He said that he was late for work and that's why he forgot about the camera. DOH. Neutral

Nope, unless they've changed it in the last year or so.
