Anyone use one, either built-in to your lid or seperate? How do you get on with it?
Took my shiny new HJC FG-15 with anti-fog coating and breath deflector out for a test today, and wasn't impressed at all. It was OK if I remembered to breathe through my nose but as soon as I forgot and exhaled by mouth I immediately misted up, and because I was mostly fairly low-speed urban riding I found I still needed to do most of the journey with the visor cracked open - even then I was steaming up when I stopped!
Will be taking the breath deflector out for the next test to see what difference it makes - I did notice that at least it kept my mouth & nose marginally warmer while the visor was open lol!
However, I'm suspecting that the problem may be that it's cos it's a one-size-supposedly-fits-all deal. I reckon that to be effective a breath deflector would probably need to fit fairly snugly around the mouth/nose area? This one didn't at all, the tip of my nose was only just toucing the bit of the deflector that I reckon should be up on the bridge of it somewhere so there was quite a massive space around the edges of it.
So I was just wondering how the rest of you get on with them if you use them? Am I doing it wrong? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

I use a foggy shield in my lid, used them for years. They are not 100% or even 80% deflective but you do get some, about 60%, effect. It also depends on how heavy you breath and if you have big breaths.
I like mine though and feel naked without one in my lid. They are also great for cutting out wind noise if you are using an Autocom.
Don't ever sneeze in one though. ____________________ Famous last words of Humpty Dumpty. " Stop pushing me "

You have an FG-15, which is pinlock ready. Spend the £20 odd quid on the pinlock. I fitted one to my FG15 and doesnt mist up now |

It doesn't do the job very well. I'm convinced it helps, but not by enough to buy one separately for its anti-fog.
Does look cool though ____________________ -- Ingah |

I bought one as an option for my Shoei Raid and I think it's rather good; doesn't matter if I breathe through my mouth or nose, I don't have any misting problems under most conditions.
If it does mist up, my lid has a device which just cracks the visor open, not enough to make it draughty, but it does clear the mist.
As said though, my breath guard does fit snugly to my nose and face, so that probably helps. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Few years back I tried one of those that attach with Velcro in the front of your helmet, it worked, if you didn't breathe...
Only thing I use now is a Neck Buff/Tube and leaving the visor open on the first notch, I use it all year round now as having a random Bee/Wasp/Largeflyingthing whack you in the throat on the motorway is slightly off putting, got a fair few now as I always forget to wash the things right up until they start to hum so it's easier to throw that one in the wash and grab another, freshly washed one... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |
