I'm in desperate need of a new chain and sprocket for my NC750X, the dealer says there is a manufacturing delay and there won't be any available until October. I've looked at all the online retailers but can't fibd anything. Any ideas?!

October? What on earth do they expect you to do until then? Eh?

Sorry, I can't find any. JT Sprockets don't even list the 750, just the 700. Sad

What I'd suggest is getting on to MCN and VisorDown and kicking up a stink - see if they can shame Honda UK into hurrying it up. This is amateur hour stuff.

Oh, and bookmarked for the next time someone trots out "You can't get parts for Chinky bikes".

Scroll down, Rog, you muppet. Doh!

looks like the 750 and 700 use the same chain and sprocket kit.

I'd have assumed so. Dealer just being spackers? I wonder why JT don't...

Oh, wait, they do.

Same bloody parts as the NC700X, just one more tooth on the front sprocket on the 750.

LOL @ Honda. Victor Devine, flux, etc.

Should work. I can't find a 17 tooth JTF1373 front sprocket for the NC750 though - I expect that's what the dealer is on about.

A 16 front might not be ideal on the 750 with that low revving engine, but it'll keep you on the road.

Are you doing it yourself?

£184.69 is the dealer price...

... plus fitting...

Thanks all, so how much difference would having one less tooth on the front sprocket make? I use the bike as a work bike, so it gets a lot of heavy use, but can't afford for it to be off the road!

On an aside, I worked at an event yesterday, before I rode home loosened the wheel nut, took up the last bit of tension, forgot to tighten the wheel nut and rode 150 miles back home. When I got home the spindle was almost completely out! Squeaky bum moment! Lesson learnt!

Depends. I found it improved my GS by putting it back closer to the gearing that it was designed for and fixing an annoying gap between 1st and 2nd.

16 teeth on the front is good enough for the NC700, it'll work OK with your 750. Your fuel economy will likely drop a tiny bit (I lost about 2mpg according to Ze Computer) and you'll lose a few mph at the top end. I'd say "just shift up earlier", but it's an NC, that goes without saying. Wink

Are your sprockets badly worn, or is it just that the chain has stretched? You don't have to replace them as a unit, although it'd be better if you did.

The rear sprocket is quite worn, so I'll assume the front is as well... I'll report back if I notice a significant difference in performance....
