I've been very lucky with my customers that I don't get much problem with bad payers and losses like many others but I have one who is a solicitor just seems to be ignoring paying.

Maybe it's because it's so little and not important to him. £150

So, i've invoiced, then again with a letter and again recorded when it was 6 weeks late.
Left a answer machine message just before christmas and still nothing.
It's now 3 months late and bar me going round banging on the door which I want to avoid as i'll lose my rag and sparking out a solicitor on his doorstep over £150 might not go down too well.

What can I now do within clear legal lines to get the lowlife to pay up?

Don't try and speak on the phone with him. Only communicate by mail and get proof of delivery with everything. Letter before action followed by a small claims court procedure.

Won't cost much and you'll be able to do it all yourself. If he does ignore it and lets it go to court, provided you have proof of goods/services provided and all correspondence relating to invoice etc, the judge should side with you and you'll get your fees back on top of what he owes you (for 150quid, doubt the fees will be over 20quid)

If what you are trading is legal just go in there and refuse to leave until you are paid. If it was for 3 grams just bust his knees.

Edit
Do it the boring way through the small claims court Sad life was far more fun when I was a kid Very Happy

As above said, Keep all communication down to written only and keep a copy of everything sent. Send it all recorded so they have to sign for it. That way they cannot say then never received any letters.

Write to them informing that if payment is not made within 14 days of the date of the letter you will start proceedings with the small claims court. If you do not get a response then start proceedings. It doesnt cost you much and when you win you will get it back. Just make sure you have the proof of the order placed and the outstanding ballance.

One option to try is find out if, as a business, you can place a default notice on the solicitor personally. That will screw his credit file for 6 years.

If you need more info and advice Mrs Pinky is good at this kind of stuff and just drop me a PM and we'll see what she can dig up for you.

(for the price of a few stickers of course) Laughing Laughing Laughing

Just kidding

EDIT: added a bit.

Another route is to ask the Law Society for advice.

https://www.lawsociety.org.uk/home.law

Go to their contact page and ask them.

Call his wife / girlfriend / secretary and ask when he's going to pay you £150 for the underage hooker you procured for him.

Is it a business expense? Does he have staff?

I'm presuming that it is and he does. If so, call his office and enquire with the office admin/secretary/bookeeper whether they have your invoice as it is now significantly past due.

From your OP it seems that you haven't actually spoken with him or his office about it. That is priority one, as at least you will have some clarification on the situation - have they got it? Is there a problem etc etc etc Then you can judge what to do next.

Call him, you pay enough a month on your mobile. Wink

He seems to deal with stuff mainly to do with royal courts and crown judging by the jobs done in the past and works from home.

phone is never answered and goes to machine whatever time he's called

Recorded Letter. Recorded Letter. Small Claims. County Court.

Do not visit his offices. Do not call to speak to him.

As said above, you have the weight of evidence that you provided goods/services in lieu of payment and he did not settle his end of the contract.

Once you get paid you can then visit his offices and blow him a big raspberry.

Non payers are infuriating and give you a hassle. I know certain types play on the fact that a creditor will not bother with the hassle but beating them at their own game + recovering costs is such joy.

Either just forget about it or sell the debt to a debt collection company.

If he isn't paying now, he isn't going to pay no matter what you do. Any other action you take will invariably cost money which you most likely wont see again.

If he is in debt collection + being solicitor he will likely know that there isn't anything "legal" that can make him pay up if he doesn't want to.

Don't contact any of his family or work colleagues, it's illegal and he will most likely nail you for it which will infuriate you more.

As hard it is will be, honestly just forget about it and write it off and don't waste any more of your time on it.

Not quite true.....

If the person fails to defend you win by default. Which in effect means nothing.
You then have to go back and again and get a default to be placed to allow you to employ a baliff to try to recover the funds.

Perhaps far better to complain to the body that rules over these leaches..... Twisted Evil

Sorry, this isn’t any help, but as far as I’m concerned solicitors rank alongside the lowest, scum sucking, filth in society, they are a bunch of lying, thieving, cheats.
Having had one of these fcukers steal the deposit for my house, I wouldn’t trust any of them, further than I could kick their arses down the gutter.

This is the thievingarsewipetwatcuntmotherfuckingbastard who stole my money! Twisted Evil

https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/aberdeen/fraud-trial-could-last-five-weeks-1.651288

These bastards know every trick in the book, to get out of paying.
I eventually got my money back, but even then it was the Law Society who coughed up.

I know what I’d like to do to every single one of these fcukers, unfortunately you are dealing with thieving scum who can and will do you up like a kipper, if pushed. Evil or Very Mad

Small claims court would seem to be your only option.

Phone from a number he doesn't know. He might answer thinking your a client. If you know where he lives i'd go knock on his door with a fist full of stones and compliment him on his nice house with such large expensive windows.

As said above anything not done on paper is difficult to be used as evidence, besides you wouldn't be responding angrily, your jut popping over to say hello to that nice customer of yours who hasn't been answering his letters or phone calls. You do hope he's okay and really hope nothing unfortunate ever happens to him. Oh and what a lovely place you have here. By the way i found these rocks outside, are they yours? did you want them back? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Twisted Evil

I once saw a cool one in the middle of a shop window. It was a letter stating that repeated requests for payment had been ignored, requesting payment and stating that if payment was not forthcoming within 14 days of receipt of said letter, a copy of it would be displayed in a prominent position in their shop window.

Not sure what your business is, but do you have a shop window (or an equivalent thereof)?

My mum once got screwed over by an electrical shop who refused to honour the warranty on an electric cooker. She put it in the car, dumped it on the pavement outside the shop and walked round it with a placard. All sorted out within 15 minutes.

Just make sure you don't say anything that is untrue.

So you could park your van outside his house with a sign on the side of it saying "Mr Bloggs owes me £150 and wont answer my correspondance.". Threaten to do it first, then do it.

One of our worst paying clients is a barrister and he uses every trick in the book to avoid paying. He was laughing on the other side of his face when he called my boss out and was told that if he didn't hand a cheque through the car window when he arrived, he (my boss) wouldn't be getting out of it.

I've seen the placard approach used to good effect by a ripped off Chinese takeaway, even with raughable Engrish: "$COMPANY PAY U LUNCH!!!"

It later turned out that they were £30K in debt to an Indian takeaway as well. Turns out there really isn't such a thing as a free lunch, although my waistline tried to argue to the contrary. Very Happy

Anyway, yes, solicitors = scum of the earth. Most people who come into close contact with the law develop contempt for it.
