I'm trying to get this apart.

Whats the best method of getting the ball joint apart?
I don't have a specialised tool.

Underneath the rubber sleeve there will be a clip. Undo that clip and the ball will drop out.

Are you sure?
I've pulled the rubber sleeve back, look underneath and it just looks like it's been popped in, if you know what i mean.

A Suzuki gear change lever I believe. The ball joints on those don't come apart by choice, they fall apart.

As Sickers says those are 'sealed-for-life' non-serviceable parts.
Cheap to replace just undo the nut from the threaded bolt-esq part on the other end of the ball, undo the locking nut and remove the socket part from the rod.
I had a BMW R1200GS that used to eat those ends where the gear shift linkage went under the frame into the gearbox. Bad/Shite engineering.

On the Suzuki the ball is riveted in place as part of the lever.
