Just curious because i checked mine yesterday, and they were both surprisingly low by about 8psi each.
To be honest i never checked them after the new tyres were fitted, i just rode it from the garage after he fitted and pumped them so im not sure how much air (if any) had escaped since. That was around October time, and the bike had been left in the garage for about 2 months before i rode it yesterday and checked the tyres.
Pumped now to haynes manual specifications. So how often should i check and pump them?
Thanks

Depends how often you ride it. I tend to check mine every half a dozen or so rides, or if it's been sat for a while.

Every week, and before long rides. Even if the bike's been sitting they'll still lose pressure slowly.

Visual-Squeeze-Ride. (That's when my OCD isn't present) Otherwise it can be Hmmm. 32-36 range in the front. I'm taking a pillion...Hmm..It's cold and raining..Hmm 34 psi it is.

Like Big_Ham said. Depends how often you ride the bike. Also I wouldn't always trust a tyre fitter to use the correct pressure.

Halfucks sell a digi pressure gauge for £5. Rated well in tests.

I usually just do it when I fill up, or when checking the oil/chain etc

I check mine every time I ride - I have Indicator Caps fitted to the valves, so it's easy to see if they need air.

If you get some, get the one's that have a tiny grub screw to lock them in place, or some tow rag will nick 'em.

Not as often as I should....

In fact can't remember the last time I did. Embarassed But I soon know when they are low as steering is very slugish.

Although if bike is laid up for a while Laughing then they would be checked, as no use seems to mean loss of pressure.

Every week or 500 miles at least I'd say, its surprising how much difference 5psi makes to the way a bike handles. You can go from a wallowing imprecise machine to something which feels sharp and tight handling.

I'd picked up a puncture (flat) about 5 miles away from home. Front was an old Avon and did a good job of staying on the rim as I rode it home perched on the pillion seat. Above 20mph downhill bend. Thinking Probably not my best decision but got the old bike home.

Hahahahaha exactly the same happened to me.

My bike had been sat for a while (whilst I failed some Mod 2s Embarassed ) and when I eventually got round to riding it I never thought to check the pressures. Had to stand it up in a corner and then a little while later stand it up and bump up onto the pavement because it was going straight on Shocked

Checked pressures and front was 7psi! Embarassed Put in the required 36 and nearly laid the thing on its side on the first roundabout out of Asda! I blame the eagerness to get out on it after owning the thing for 3 months and having it sat in the garage staring at me Laughing

Not as often as I should, even with my nerd OCD. I've only recently realised that they don't bulge visibly as much as car tyres, so they do need checking more often. Mine were *cough* PSI, I'd assumed that the difficulty in pushing it was the brakes binding a bit: the hot rubber smell eventually clued me in. Embarassed
