 |
|
Wow I just wrote a lot that jsut vanished D:
Ok, skim the fat
First day on bike, went well, some nubby stalling pulling off, comfortable, feelsgoodman, looked down for a second once at my dash then back up and wa sliek fuuu as the ca rin front suddenly braked, broke so hard the back of the bike kicked out a bit, and the car in the next lane honked at me like FUUUU-
Other than that it was ok
I got a yamaha 2009 ybr125
My helmet, bought this https://www.mcaleicester.co.uk/products/helmets/1254
on the cheap till i get mo' money
The strap is weird, not like the usually big cable tie type thing, its like a belt with a push button and two buckle things, any idea how to tighten it? (Been trying for a while now o.O)
Checks & Maintaining
I'm sure this thread crops up repeatedly
So like for maintaining it well, oil changes (errr no idea how)
and err? Air filter or something? What is?
I'm such a nub i spent 10 minutes trying to screw the petrol cap back in, and half hour trying to get the goddammn lock to close.

For maintenance and servicing if you are unsure nip down your local bike shop or online and order a Haynes manual they can be confusing however maintenance wise it will tell you all you need to know about your bike.
If you are still unsure there is always workshop ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

I never thought i'd find myself in a position where I don't like Double D's
Wow magic! How the hell did I not manage that before lol
It's turned into a belt now! Simple! Thanks for that! Exclamation!
Err guys, just realised I may have forgot to sort the tax out on it...
Is there a way to check if it's taxed online or something?
I guess there should be a tax disc on the wheel.... better go check *runs*
Edit: Awwww piss, can't see a tax disc on it anywhere, or even where the tax disc would even go?
WHAT DO? |

Didn't the bike have a previous owner?
You didn't just 'find' the bike, did you? |

Double D ring which is FAR more common than the 'big cable tie type thing'
I'd say 80% of helmets have the Double D ring,

I suppose I was wrong to say usually when i've only ever wore one type of helmet from a CBT once ever
Im an expert now guiyz!!1!1111
Ok, i sorted it thanks
As for my tax, rang the guy I bought it off (and no I didnt 'find' it! I paid a months wages for it! D
He checked on DVLA website somehow,
Turns out it's taxed till novemember this year ^_^
Got no disc on show though whihc I beleive is an offense, but cant send off for the replacement disc until I get the log book form the DVLA (sent off V5 thing last week)
Will I be ok?
I mean come on popo, i've done all the shit, paid all the money, did all the insurance and everything and didnt sit on my bike for a week while I got helmet and legalities sorted out
Give me a break, i'm one of the good guys! |

I have a lid that does up with the "Big cable-tie thing" So easy to put on, even with gloves (with a little practice )
Glad you're enjoying the first few days on your bike. Don't worry about that other motorist honking at you, if you have L's on, they should expect you to make the odd mistake.
Have fun and ride safe ____________________ CBT Passed - 22 / 10 / 11 >> Theory Passed - 16 / 02 / 2012 >> Mod 1 Passed - 07 / 03 / 2012 >> Mod 2 Passed - 18 / 05 / 2012. |

No, the guy who has your money has told you that it's taxed until November.
Check yourself - look for "Date of liability".
| Alpha-9 wrote: | Just need the disc now, is there any leeway? I heard you get 5 days or something? |
Nope, that's only from the start of the month (if the VED just ran out), there's no leeway for new owners.
Welcome to form V20 and £7.
You could probably just get a new disc at a post office for £16 plus the new keeper slip and a copy of your insurance. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
