You are riding illegally anyway, might as well get a 125
Tips and advice, keep the bike in good nick, keep the 2 stroke oil topped up and change the gearbox oil occasionally.
Have fun |

Lol .. Wrong assumption mate im 20, and I've only grabbed the little hair dryer to get to work and back really because i work 12miles away from home now! (New Job)
Only reason i didnt get a 125 is because i found this one cheap and i needed it within the next week because my lift to work was legging it to another job!
I've had the CBT 1 and half yrs and i done it on a 125 geared so im fully legal to ride it. And also my understanding is im legal to put a 70cc kit on it as long as i claim it on the insurance of cors!
It is fully restricted, has 6 gears.. 1 down 5 up. if you look online at the Derbi Senda 50 SuperMotard then it will tell you it comes out of the shops reaching a top speed of 50mph. |

Ok mate cheers. I did give it 15mins warm up time this morning before i left, when the bugger finally started (big frost this mornin).
& in all honesty i haven't ragged it and im not planning to unless i get the 70 kit etc... like i said.
Im still learning the roads at the moment, so taking it steady.
& as for tyres its got two brand new ones on sooo thats all good oil was topped up the day i got it.. basically everything has been done. As you said, just keep an eye on things and be careful!
Where you from bud? what do you (anihilate the roads with) ride? lol |

Down south in Kent.
GSXR750 Y model and a CB250 currently.
Erm, check the oil daily, 2 stroke oil gets consumed whilst riding.
As for warming up, I'd get the bike started on choke for about 2-3 minutes and work the choke off, put helmet n gloves on and ride it. Idling a 2 stroke for 15 minutes will foul the plug and will need ragging to clear it.
Best bet, start it on choke, ride gently for a few miles, start increasing the revs and feel free to redline 2nd>4th gear to clear the coked up crap out |

OK, so you're not riding without a license, but your insurance is doubtful at best.
Rather than pouring money into a ped that will cause you nothing but problems - legally, technically, and when insuring and selling it on - then why not pass it on to a 16 year old, get a 125 and pass your tests? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Hi Roger, why is my insurance doubtful??
& yeah, i understand totally what you mean. But like i said in a previous post up top.. i needed a bike asap to get to and from work because my lift was legging it to another job. I was ideally looking at a 125 but this bike came up quicker and had everything i need just for a little commute of 10miles to work everyday.
I will be getting my full license for the summer hopefully
but for now this little chicken chase will do. |

You've insured it as a moped, doubtless with no modifications listed.
If it does more than 31mph, then it's not a moped, and it's probably been modified by a previous owner.
You'll probably be all right, but be aware that some Plod Squads do run the occasional "Operation Pedboi Sweep", pull over peds and put them on a rolling road - you can opt to defer such a test, but most pedbois won't know that.
I doubt whether they'd care so much about chasing up a purely insurance issue for a 20 year old on a proper provisional (and I highly doubt they could get a conviction), but it's up to you to determine whether the potential risk and hassle factor of riding around on a derestricted ped is worth it.
Anyway, best way to make it a non-issue is to get licensed up. There's nothing hard in the tests and the sooner you get them done, the better. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yeah i know what you mean.. Well i best take it to my friends dad who is a bike mechanic. He'd be able to give it the full check over and tell me if anything has been modified.
Then if it has i WILL DEFINITELY declare it on insurance, no point being bollocked by the police and possibly getting fines etc.. for a crappy 50cc bike lol
But yesss, i think i may have to fork out some £££ for my license next month.. Would be best bet!
Cheers Roger. |
