There aren't many bikes (IMO) More comfy than a CBR600F.

However, For all we know you could have long arms and short legs, and be comfortable on a ZXR750 or early '90's GSXR750.

You need to go out and try some bikes and see. If you've got a bad back for example, then a sporty riding position is best, as it puts little pressure on your spine, and your spine is aligned into a more evolutionary natural position. If you've got bad thighs or wrists, then it is often better to ride with a 'sit up and beg' stance like a Varadero, BMW GS or similar. Personally, I hate huge bikes, and I prefer the feeling of control I have over bikes with flat bars. My Street Triple is pretty comfortable and I can ride a lot further on that than I could on my Buell for example. My TT600 was probably the most comfortable bike I've ever owned, and its basically a copy of a CBR600F, as I said, I personally have never ridden anything which is nearly as comfortable as a CBR600F (or a copy of it) and comfort isn't everything.

have been looking at vfr 800's are they not meant to be quite poor on fuel economy? i was getting 50+ mpg from my cbr, its more my ass went numb and it went to my legs when i was touring in it, maybe a comfier seat is all i would need?

I went from a CBR600FW to a Triumph Sprint ST 1050. Originally I set out to get something totally different to the CBR ie naked / middleweight or even muscle, but I caved and opted for something more similar but different Laughing

It is, however, exceptionally comfy

Marjays is right in that it all depends on your physical condition. I can't ride out and out sports bikes because of wrist pain (and yes, thats even going fast, Laughing )

The most comfortable bike I have ever owned (excluding my Goldwing) was a Tiger 955i and the next bike I get after my triple will either be a Tiger 1050 or a new Tiger Adventure purely for that reason.

But then I am an old fart!

I got about 40 out of my VFR. Loved the bike, really loved the engine. It chewed through voltage regulators like I eat crisps but you can change them in your sleep after you've done your first couple. Very comfy but nothing like as chuckable as the Fazer 6 I had before or the FZ1 I have now.

hmm 10 mpg less makes a big diiference on a 3-4000 mile tour, i did sit on a vfr 1200 today was a bit more upright and felt comfier, though im not sure if the 800 is the same?

Frankly I've got "about 40" out of every bike I've ever owned.

The VFR 800 riding position was somewhere between sportsbike and all-rounder (i.e. Fazer etc) - certainly comfier than the girlfriends SV650s. I'd expect it to be similar to the CBR600f.

It's a lovely looking bike but you really buy it for the engine. It's the bike equivalent of a V8 in a car - it sounds awesome but it feels awesome too. There's a perfect (for want of a better word) weight to it. My FZ1 might have about 40 more BHP but the VFR felt meatier.

so the vfr has alot of grunt? i did find the downside of the cbrs flatspot a pain on the motorway, weighted down with too much luggage, constantly downchanging on the motorways!

BHP-wise it'll have a few more than a CBR600f; maybe 10 or 20 more. But it'll pull from lower revs so you're likely to find yourself downshifting a lot less. Most IL4s I've ridden you're at 6000 revs before the acceleration is handy and although the VFR certainly loved being in the upper half of the rev-meter, it'll pull quite happily from about 3000.
