It's done 27,000 miles and runs nicely, but change through the lower gears 1st neutral, to 2nd, seems a bit 'scratchy' is the only word I can think of. It feels as though there is no lubrication on the gear change mechanism. Any ideas anyone?? Twisted Evil Question

Make sure that your clutch is adjusted correctly, sounds like you may have a bit of drag.

Lubricate the gear change mechanism? Also check if the ball joints are about to die.
Are gear change mechanisms kept bone dry then? Does your left hand crank case cover not have a gasket on it?

Mmm! HAve just changed clutch lever and adjusted the lever end clutch adjuster. Could be that. What do you mean by 'dragging'?

Drag is when the plates do not separate sufficiently and it causes trouble with gear changes. As said make sure your linkage is all well oiled and you can get problems with old or the wrong grade of oil in a wet clutch.

Bike was a bit 'unserviced' when I got it. I Intend to change the oil but will check the quality of existing oil before I do. Ta M8!

AS SUSPECTED! A couple of turns on the clutch lever adjuster did the trick. I unscrewed it to put a new lever on and didn't put it back in EXACTLY the same place. Thanks all! Twisted Evil
