 Posted: 21:24 - 05 Mar 2012 Post subject: First Experience On My 125 |
 |
|
Just thought I'd share with all of you lovely people my first so called 'out-ing' on my 125.
I bought it a while back, but with lack of confidence and a few technical issues it has taken up until now for me to be able to ride it out on the road.
Before having my 125 I had a little 50 scooter, and for me the jump up was quite big (from automatic to gears).
I hadn't really had much experience with gears as I did some of my CBT on a 125 and then finished it on a scooter.
In saying this when my Dad told me at the weekend that it was fixed I was somewhat happy and nervous at the same time.
So it came about today that I was to ride it home from my Nanna's which is only 5 minutes across our small town.
When it came to it I was quite nervous in all honesty.
Mainly because of my lack of experience and also because I've tried to ride it home before and it had conked out and I've had to push it back.
When I got it out and warmed out I took it up to a little road round my Nanna's to have a bit of practice before I set off back.
I was practicing the main thing most people have a problem with which is the clutch control/getting out of first gear.
After going up and down the road stopping and starting about 20 times I thought I best stop annoying the residence and set off back home.
It was scary when I decided to. But I thought it would be best to cut the journey in half and go to my college and take it into the car park there.
Safe to say the roads were quiet on the way there and there weren't really any problems! (Apart from copious amounts of sweat)
I met some of my friends there and stayed for a while before it got dark and I headed off home.
There are still a few problems with my bike that need sorting which didn't help on the way home, but I braved through it!
I think the thing that helped me most with the nervousness was thinking back to the first time I went out on my scooter.
I was extremely nervous then and didn't know what I was doing with myself.
But after a few times of going out it became like second nature and I was comfortable riding it.
This is what I keep telling myself everytime I get nervous with my bike - That I was exactly the same with my scooter, and things will only get better with practice.
That's the best advice I can give myself.
And for now it's just improving on clutch control and remembering what gear I am in! Haha.
An overall good experience I would say.
If you got through all of that I owe you a congratulations!
And if any of that information helps anyone like it did for me, I'm glad.
Reporting from the town Richmond in North Yorkshire, Andy |
