new carb problem

Hi when I start bike it starts great but wen I rev it the revs go up but don't cone down keep going up .its a cd200 benly It's not cable as works well could it be something in Carb or settings its driving me mad !!@

Two threads for the same problem will most likely wind people up.

You've been told how to check it for air leaks, unless you stripped the carb down and fucked about with mixture screws and shit then its not going to be settings related.

You put a carb slide in the wrong way round or something?

I thought it would explain better with second post sorry .tryied seals and wd40. I striped carb and put back together but still no joys .

If the carb looks like this, have a look down the end. Is it about 1-2mm open, or half way?

If its the latter, unscrew the top (where the throttle cable goes in) turn the slide round 180 degrees & put it back in. see if the opening is then much smaller...did it on a C90 and it made my head hurt for quite a while.

Looks like that.

however on the side you see that slit? that sits over the idle screw. if you put it in the wrong way round then the slide cant close more than half way because the base of the slide hits it.

I've got the.small slit faceing the idle screw and the long slit that goes the hole lenth faceing gear stick goes right down but I get what u mean

What the fuck is a shuttle?!

my guess is you pulled all the screws nuts and bolts out that you could get your hands on without taking note of what the mixture screws were set at, and then re assembled it with a load of air leaks & incorrect clearances.

Sudden thought, but what happens if you turn the idle screws down a load?

If the clip was set in one position, why the hell do you want to change it!? that then just adds another potential problem into it all Rolling Eyes

Revs do come down but very slow .soz for so many replys all at once also that is my Carb on picture

No sorry incorrect guess all I did was remove Carb from engine .removed bottom 3 screws on float chamber then I blowed in all holes lol removed jet on float and blowed put back together runs like sh.t

Float height adjusted wrongly, shit blown into the jets, original problem which made you rip the carb to bits, sticky slide, sticky cable, choke jammed on or incorrectly adjusted, air leak, consistant fucking around with anything and everything, incorrect mixture settings.

Any, or all of the above are your problem. I've heard so many people advising others to "clean the carb" when the bike runs rough without even having a look at weather the plugs f*cked. Ask questions, learn shit, watch others, THEN fuck about with stuff.

I just brought bike off wat I thought was an onward man wen i got it it ran rougth so changed oil ,plugs .still ran sh.t so took Carb off to c if been fuck.d bout with still runs sh.t so thought I aproached in right order .so I seeked advise here I am asking for help becase I lack the knowledge
