Stolen from Colliers Wood (near Wandle Park) about 5-6PM on Sat 18th Feb. The bike was parked on the road outside my house.

It has an aftermarket stubby exhaust (an Extreme Blaster) which is very loud, and has just had a pair of Dunlop Sportsmart tyres fitted.

The exhaust is probably not very common to find in this country as I had it made by a guy in America and shipped over. You unscrew the head of the exhaust and it has removable rings which adjust back pressure.. if anyone is offered to buy a second hand one it could well be off my bike.

Unfortunately I won't be making a claim on my insurance because I'd only get £500 due to how much I have it insured for and my excess. Plus I'd loose 6 years no claims which would push my premium into the thousands, it's a shame because the one time that I need to make a claim and it's pointless me doing so.

But at least if it does get recovered it'll come back to me instead of the insurers.

Thanks guys if you do see anything please get in touch.

It is a 2003 5PW model - registration LK03 UDW.

The mileage was I think around 29k (certainly late 20s if not early 30s).

It is completely standard, other than the exhaust.

Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that you had your bike stolen. With regards to losing your 6 years no claims, it would be worth checking your insurance documentation as you may only lose 2-3 years bonus rather than the whole thing. I had a policy with Bikesure a few years ago and feel sure that claiming on the policy with over 3 years no claims bonus would lose you 2 years from the total so would be worth a look imo.

Pretty sure you still have to tell your insurers that the bike is stolen even if you dont want to claim

It must suck badly having a motorcycle nicked, I feel for you all. I can't imagine any of mine going missing. Crying or Very sad.

Out of interest though, if you have to park it out of a secure location (i.e. locked garage where I keep mine) quite often and you know that, then why not invest in a tracker? They are relatively cheap to fit and don't cost much to have running and that way if the worst does happen your motorcycle is pretty much guaranteed to be locatable for a while until it's broken into parts.

With thieves of nice bikes like yours and cars too, due to the advent of trackers they like to nick them and then park them up for a week or so in a parking space somewhere to see if it gets found/tracked, that way if it does they don't get caught and if it doesn't they are more certain they're safe having it. However, this makes it easy for the police/tracker company to locate and bring back to you. Thumbs Up!

I was actually thinking the other day about buying a bashed up iPhone 3G on eBay for a couple quid, wiring it into the bike's loom so it runs off the bike's electrics even when turnt off and running the Find My IPhone software on there that is running on all our iPhones/iPads as we can track where any of ours are at any given time and literally 'follow' the movement on a map, cheap alternative to a tracker! Laughing!

Just a thought, I know if I didn't have a garage the GSX-R would have a tracker on it, for sure. Hopefully you get it back and something to invest in? I'd rather spend money on a good alarm and good tracker than some locks and chains for a big bike like yours.

Double check that the Find My Phone app works on a 3G as I had it on my old phone and it would never work properly, it's standard on a 4GS now. Also waterproof the phone carefully as iPhones dislike being wet and refuse to work Thumbs Up

As far as I'm aware (regarding the older iPhones), Find My Phone only works on a 3Gs (not the 3G) and that's only with a monthly sub.

Bad luck on the bike OP. Hope you find the suckers and nail 'em.

Hi sorry not checked back on here since having my bike nicked. It's long gone I'm afraid I haven't heard anything from anyone.

I'm constantly on eBay checking for listings hoping something I recognise will come up on there, who knows what happens to bikes when they are stolen probably broken down or shipped abroad... I can't see some teenage scum bag riding around on my R1 without either crashing it or getting nicked. At the same I can't see them being able to sell it on in any other form than for parts due to not having the V5.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you.

It was totally unsecure where I had mine parked, not even a chain around it.. so totally my fault. I've since bought a GSXR 750 which is in my garage up north, which is where it will stay from now on Smile

Most bikes usually either get riden until they run out of fuel, then dumped in a ditch or taken apart and sold for parts.

No payout unfortunately Sad I had it insured for 2k with a £750 excess, plus I'd have lost 6 years no claims.. so it wasn't worth it.

I have since bought a GSXR 750 K6:
