I'd assume a little from column A, a little from column B.
Straight up, flat caps and blue rinses are my biggest concern, and any reasonable hazard perception test would have a clip where one just pulls right out on the camera vehicle, no warning. They are a hazard and riders need to be made aware of it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I was hit by a female driver in her late 70s, she was driving a bmw m3 or something... Was also half my size, tiny..no idea how she can see over the steering wheel
Not to be ageist..but if I was in my 80s and still riding a b-king, Id think that quite dangerous!..we all lose our reactions and thinking speed as we get to a certain point in life. ____________________ Mod2 Passed 30/03/2011!

I am less fearful of 80 year old dawdlers than I am of the following:
18 year chavsters chucking diesel down on roundabouts so they can drift their Corsas round it,
Travelling salesmen in their M5s and Audis sitting 2 inches from my back wheel and switching lanes in traffic like there's no tomorrow,
Panda-car plod who think half an hour 'training' means they can drive like twats and overtake on blind bends. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

R.I.P The accident was just round the corner from my house. Had a couple of hasty stops myself while riding along Lytham road. |

It's true that OAP's aren't highly at risk from death and serious injury according to the stats. However those don't really take into account how much danger they could be to other people and particularly vulnerable road users who are often harder to spot (motorcyclists, pedestrians, cyclists) but who won't cause much damage to a car, should one pull out on them, change lanes into them, etc.
In any case, and regardless of who was at fault, this sounds like a tragic accident, thoughts are with his family, and I'm sure the lady involved is very upset to have caused such a young riders death as well. ____________________ - CBT: 02/01/11 Theory: 26/04/11 Mod 1: 19/05/11 Mod 2: 19/08/11

My old man used to say that most OAPs had not had an accident....
They have however caused fucking hundreds.... |
A popular myth, unless you can post up the statistics that prove it. |
Oh, hello.
indeed.
Well, we won't bamboozle each other with filthy numbers, but people once they reach the age of 75 are as dangerous, on average [per mile], as newly qualified 17 year-old drivers [...] drivers over the age of 80 have more accidents per mile than any other age group. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Now then.
Have a look at the figures, and see which age group is most at risk on the roads.
Can't wait for this

Take the fucking statistics elsewhere. We don't care.
This is a thread to show respect to the people closest to the guy who lost his life as the result of a tragic accident. It must be very hard for them.
Show a bit of respect and don't come hijacking this thread, bringing the focus away from the awful loss of this young man and onto some pointless statistics that you've plucked out of thin air.
