So i had a crash a last Tuesday, got my bike fixed last night and today was my first day on it. Riding absolutely fine until i give it some beans. My foot starts feeling wet, i look down and see something's leaking. It was right by my house so i just got home steadily and had a look. When the engines running it leaks, when it's off it stops. The fluid smells like oil but appears watered down, seems to be coming from the the upper side of the engine (if that helps). Is it the carbs? Radiator water?

Help please Sad

What colour is the liquid?

Orange/green and watery is coolant.

Petrol and oil are obvious.

Mix oil with coolant and it becomes a milky white mess.

How much of it, and where exactly is it coming from - have a look, maybe take a picture it's a naked it shouldn't be hard.

Yeah it does, that's why I'm not sure whether it's just the radiator fluid leaking from somewhere. I am yet to taste it Smile

Coolant tastes really sweet. That certainly looks like water, if you are sure it isn't petrol (try lighting a bit on fire if unsure - far away from bike) then yours looks a bit old and could probably do with a change.

It looks very much like it is coming from the carbs.

Anyway, a lot of carbs will have a coolant line running through them to stop the carbs icing up when it is cold (don't know if yours does). Because of where the leak is I'd guess at one of the coolant hoses leading to/from your carbs has come off. Pop the tank off and have a look for wet patches/loose hoses.

Is the part in the middle of first pic the cap thingy on the airbox drain. If the bikes been down the road could petrol have left the carbs into the airbox and mixed with any water (from condensation) that's collected at the bottom of the airbox?

How about water? Laughing

It doesn't need to be a Honda replacement, you can use aftermarket hoses if they can get to you quicker - those gay blue silicone hoses for instance.

If it has cracked close to the rad/engine you might be able to just cut an inch or so off to get you by.

Unfortunately it cracked a little bit further in on the pipe, and there isn't enough i could take off and for it to still be securely fitted.

I'm bidding on a set of replacements at the moment which are half the price of the aftermarket ones. I'd rather not have those garish blue hoses on as well Laughing
