Hi Guys, I should have said this was a honda cg 125 05..

After a bit of digging i find the stand and back brake is quite common, also noticed there seems to be a problem with swing arm and back brake. Got back wheel off and trying to get into the drum seems quite difficult is there something stupid im missing to get into drum it is spinning just not coming off!

thanks
Aidan

Have you tried pushing the brake arm forwards?

The best thing to do with the center stand is remove the pivot pin that holds the back brake lever and cenre stand on. The CG is known for its self destructing centre stand. Once the grease dries up the pivot pin starts to move when you use the center stand and worse case begins wearing a hole in the frame. It sounds like yours is becoming dry and not freely rotating so it is worth doing before any damage is caused.

While your doing that you may as well grease the swing arm if your having problems with that.

With the rear drum brake, I'm assuming you've removed the torque arm bolt and brake cable, then removed the wheel from the bike? If so try moving the black lever when pulling the drum off.

Yeah after searching online i see that the stand can
have problems!!

I have the wheel off and tried to get the casing off to get into brake drum it spins but wont come out of the housing!! Will give it another go today!! Theres nothing else i should be loosening for this to pop out??

Thanks
Aidan

It may be that the drum has worn and there is a lip holding onto the pads. Does the drum lift out even a small amount?

Hi Marki,

Yeah i got it off after a lot of messing around it seems i need new back drum brakes which look simple enough to replace is there anything i must do before putting new ones on??

The stand eased off yesterday after much greasing and the heat seemed to help also who knows will keep greasing it!!

For starters just give it all a good wipe out to remove the brake dust. I prefer to remove the actuator arm and pivot so that they can be cleaned and lubed, not absolutely necessary though. You do need to put a light smear of grease on the pivot points though. The shoes can be fiddly to install, just attach the springs and then forced the shoes into place.
