Thanks everyone. All I can say is that if you have had previous experinece on a bike then you can pass it with ease and cheaply too.

I thought that rule only applies to new licences? I already have had my probationary period on my car licence?

Hold on a mo, you just passed your test for your motorcycle ?

If this is the case, your back on a 2 year limit @ 6 points.

The two years / 6 points limit starts from the date that you pass your test, any points you got before that date do not count as far as I know.

Right......spoken to my instructor about this. Apparently it is only applicable to new provisional licence holders. If you have had you car licence for over the two years then it does not apply to you.
He rang the DVLA and asked them what the rule is. So we all know now. Thumbs Up Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Thats the offical word on it by the DSA, anyone that passes a test is subject to 2 years period.

Still not convinced to be honest, there have been more people to say the opposite. It does not make sense if you already have a licence to have the probation again to be honest. Understandable from a new drivers point of view definately?? The debate goes on Rolling Eyes .

LOL after posting that I have found this..........
https://www.learnandlive.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/learnandlive/probat.html

Quote:

Q: What if I have obtained additional licences for another vehicle category
e.g. a motorcycle licence?
A: The probationary period applies only to the first full licence.

More spanners.

How much is it to add a category onto a full licence? I can't find it anywhere?
Cheers
