Which engine is the electric start engine you've been offered?
If it has the kickstarter aswell it will just fit in place and will work fine if the previous bike was a 12v system with CDI. However it will be kick start only which isnt a real problem on a CG.
If it's electric start only you will need to buy a wiring loom for the ES models, upgrade the battery and get a starter switch for it to work.
I am curious how he managed to put a hole in the engine though |

The xl is a v-twin. The cg engine is a pushrod single (from memory)
They have nothing in common!! ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

better off with a stock cg lump if your a learner, if your not on L plates and you want a little bike with a bit more poke then get a 200cc kit of ebay for the cg lump, they make a surprising difference to cruising speed and very little drop in fuel economy.
Cheers

It's not at all designed for it and would probably need a little modification, but how about a cub/pit bike style engine?
I like the idea of having a bike where you have the option of say either a c90 engine for fuel economy a 160 pit bike engine for speed or a 50cc for 'ped racing . |
