stuffed in the right area now, posted in the wrong dept.. silly me... must be cause i ran out of coffee...

Another project for me. Its a quite tall Honda XLR125RP. Import version

https://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c357/satelliteone/HondaXLR125RP/527667_262759757144581_100002316779187_572079_1453427616_n.jpg

Sold the TZR belgarda and thought what shall i buy next. This one came up local to me, No MOT or TAX, last on the road in 2009, and mainly used on a farm. Boy does that show..

Millage is 16 thou KM which in english is 10K miles ..

Its in good condition, just needs a bloody good tart up.

Engine is running sweet, pulls very well indeed.

Engine is a JD09E over head cam, identical to the CRF 150 and 230cc air cooled machines. Prolink suspension. 24mm front disk, and drum rear brake.

Nice sized machine, and towers over the XR in stature, Ideal for the taller peeps

Stash of Some DTR bits mainly, i think a DTLC engine casings too. Got boxs of bit every where..

After nearly loosing my licence on the tzr, plus the bad back ache syndrome, and not riding on mud, i thought the same bomberman,

Shit load of elbow grease this bike. its in one big fat dirty wedding this one. marrage of MR wire brush.

Got the engine on the bench, cleaning away.

I like these old dirtbike projects, you planning on tarting it up in a big way or making it more presentable?

its pretty dirty, cleaning, and painting, just getting it to a neat condition really. replacing snapped bolts, etc etc... original clean condition. Then MOT.

Would like to throw in a air cooled 230 CRF engine TBH. Would be awesome.

Engine is getting a paint up. the top end cant get paint on it..as its air cooled, the paint acts as a thermal barrier. Only thing i can do here is a bloody good wire brush up.

Bottom end is looking sweet..

The engine was running fine waffles, might check the clearence on the valves, change the plug/oil thats about it really. Looking for a CRF 230F engine tho. My local bike scrappy may have somthin. Worth a ganders.

Love to juice a 230 up, with a hot cam, port the head and raise the compression.

Looking good so far and you're not hanging around either! Do you have any plans for a tail tidy or something? I always thought that those huge full size tailpieces for the numberplate and indicators ruined the look of off road bikes.

dtr125`s are great bikes. Love em and hate em at the same time. The engine, has issues. power valve needs a dremmel, if you bore one size over standard, The electric start DTRE engine is stronger. due to the extra bearing on the magneto side, not only that, head gaskets, unless you buy genuine it will blow. Thats if the head is dead flat.

But keep your eyes peeled for a Belgarda TDR, quite rare, and it has the 4DL engine, 33hp..

as to the tail tidy, i have ben pondering this my self. the HONDA XLR rear end is pants. Im looking for an CRF rear end, see if they mate up, then go dor a LED tail lamp along with a plate holder. that sits under the guard. Also would make it a bit shorter from the rear too.

But thats in the future. plenty of time to fiddle..
