The No Budget Cup was very cheap, but they aren't running it this year. I believe Fast Bikes mag had mentioned another series in a similar vein, so it may be worth looking on their site for some info. ____________________ My Flickr |

The dude was racing his R6. Basically I want something I can do on my 99 ZX6R. I'll check out the Fast Bikes website though
The ClubMSV Trackday Trophy may be what I'm looking for really but I'll need to wait and see how the costs stack up.
I'm not fussed about being competitive so won't be buying new tyres every week or anything so apart from the race and licence fees themselves I don't see what other costs there would be over and above just doing trackdays (i.e. increased consumable wear and servicing costs)? Or am I totally delusional
EDIT: Just saw this after googling no budget cup https://www.sportcup.co.uk/
That's the kind of thing I mean. Entry fee is £650 split between 3 riders so it's not much more expensive than a trackday. What other costs would there be cause that doesn't seem too bad at all? ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Check up to see what Hottrax are doing (forum sponsors, I believe ).
At some point they were running an endurance series with a class aimed at the competent trackdayer.
There's some other stuff, including one that was discussed on here which didn't allow ACU national level licence holders.
However, if you want actually cheap, get a 4.2 minimoto.
Pit bikes seem to be a bit of a step up in price.
It may seem like "baby racing", but a hell of a lot the skills are the same and it may stand in you in better stead to start small and work up than starting big and trying to learn everything at once. |

I think that's probably the roadstocks series that you're talking about Tommy, the idea was that you could race your roadbike. of course what actually happened was that most of the front bikes seemed to be racers with a numberplate! Not sure it's running now
Conventionally as far as cheapness goes, Bemsee's Yamaha Past Masters or MZ's, or Thundersports GB's CB500 series are probably the lowest cost wise. As said previously, no racing is cheap, and it becomes addictive!
Our rider Doug did the no budget cup a couple of years back, ended up costing him a fortune, also the last regs I saw insisted you paid up for the whole season, not sure if that is the case now though.
That Pit Bike racing looks a right laugh I bet it's bloody competitive though ____________________ RD350LC/YPVS Race Bike and enough bits to start another one! - RD350YPVS Race Bike - TZR250 Race Bike - ZX9R - ZZR1400 project - DRZ400SM - RD400 - TS100 - TY250 - More info @ www.waveracing.co.uk or www.ypmrc.co.uk |

whatever form of racing you do it never works out cheap.
You can do one day meetings to make it alot cheaper which is what I'm doing this year.
EMRA is £130 for one class and then 30 for any additional classes on top of that. One set of tyres can last the day aswell which all helps.
If you want to race the zxr tommy then you should be looking at PI classes or roadstock/streetstock classes. mike did well on his old zxr last round at EMRA on his bike in roadstocks and I think he has the same bike as you. ____________________ Dean Stone #777

I've just had a look through the new EMRA site - very impressive I must say
I didn't realise the Roadstocks class was still running, looks like a good series, but I'm guessing there will be a fair few full on race bikes lurking
Shame they don't allow two-strokes, the YPVS would probably do OK round the shorter tracks ____________________ RD350LC/YPVS Race Bike and enough bits to start another one! - RD350YPVS Race Bike - TZR250 Race Bike - ZX9R - ZZR1400 project - DRZ400SM - RD400 - TS100 - TY250 - More info @ www.waveracing.co.uk or www.ypmrc.co.uk |

no they have a passionate ex roadstocks 1000 champion who is making sure everyone is legit. its a good novice playing filled grid.
snowy there is an OLDstock class which a few LCs run in there, if you can do a 1 minute lap round there your on the podium. ____________________ Dean Stone #777

Ah, fair play then m8, seriously that has to be one of the cheapest classes then, depends of course if you have a suitable bike, bet the racing is close as well. I was at Brands recently, just popped in to drop some bits off at the Thundersports meet, they have a retro sportsbike class that might be worth a look, ZX7R's, Millies and the like.

I like Mallory Deano, I've only done the afternoon Wednesday tests there though, so no accurate timings. I think the OLDstocks is up to 250lc, mine has a YPVS engine so I might struggle there
The TZR would probably do alright in the Formula class though, Doug did well in the Plumb Pudding and really liked the place. I'd like to think I could get the 350 round in a minute, but who knows, might check it out if the dates don't clash. ____________________ RD350LC/YPVS Race Bike and enough bits to start another one! - RD350YPVS Race Bike - TZR250 Race Bike - ZX9R - ZZR1400 project - DRZ400SM - RD400 - TS100 - TY250 - More info @ www.waveracing.co.uk or www.ypmrc.co.uk |

The roadstock series is good.. yes you get the boys rock up on 08-09 gixxrs and r6's but as deano says. i did quite well in round 1 and won in round 2. im on a 2001 zx6r pre injection thing, im just over 16 stone and the bike is absolutely bog stock. 1 min laps will win you pots in the 600 roadstocks. its not all about the bike in the series which helps me to be competative on my ridiculously tight budget. ____________________ #63 Mikemace.co.uk
