hi folks,

I cant get my clutch to adjust correctly. I have changed the clutch cable as it was at its furthest extension and whilst the fairing was off I figured I would change the clutch cable..

I have routed it the same as the old cable.. And it is a genuine triumph replacement part. I even measured the 2 together.. But for some reason the lifter arm isnt pulling the cable back. There are no bends in the cable.. Ive ran it through the bike several different ways and adjusted it each way back and forth 30 times. Yet nothing seems to work.

If I take the cable off the lifter arm the arm will retract back to its original position. But when the cbale is attatched it doesnt seem to have the strength to pull the cable back even though the cable is still quite lose..

Could this be a problem with the lifter arm spring not being powerfull enough to pull the arm back or is there something down in the clutch caseing that is stopping it being pulled back ?

I really didnt want to have to take the clutch casing off as that requires draining the oil again and buying a new gasket.. So does anybody have any other theories or suggestions before I go spending more money as to why the cable will not spring back ones pulled.

Sounds like there might be something wrong with the helper spring on the clutch lifter arm.

Personally, I'd buy a Venhill clutch cable first, and see if it is any better. But that's just me.

Cant be buying another cable, just spent £30 on this.
IS there anything in the clutch case that would be holding it back from returning ?

I think there is a clutch 'helper' spring in there. I suspect the only way to sort it is to remove the clutch cover and have a look.
