Bike: SV650S K2

The right hand chain adjuster on my SV will not budge. I have tried leaving it soaking in penetrant lubricant, but that does not seem to have worked.

I'm worried if I keep forcing it with the allen key that I will just round it off.

Can anyone offer some other suggestions please?

After doing a chain and sprockets on a friends SV last weekend, I made the stupid mistake of not loosening the pivot for the rear brake caliper. Make sure that you loosen the pivots for the caliper so that it can move when you turn the adjusters, otherwise your wheel ain't going anywhere.

If you meant a picture of my bike specifically I can do this tomorrow night.

Everything is loosened as it should be, apart from the aforementioned adjuster.

When the one on the fazer did that I just dropped the wheel once there was no load on it it moved reasonably freely and was unwound then liberally greased before reassembly.

If you're not already using one, use an allen key socket, and whack it round with a mallet, a sharp hit is best.
If you round out the hex hole, hammer in a star bit and a sharp crack with a mallet.

Sorry to drag this back up. Only just getting round to addressing the issue.

Have asked a fella in the garage at work, and he suggested we heat up the surrounding area to release the screw, which I know works. But he said I would need a new bolt/screw. Also said I would need to replace the bolt if we tapped it with a star piece.

I have tried searching for the replacement bolt/screw, but I can only find the whole assembly. Will I need to replace anything?

Just tried an Allen socket, and rounded the head out

Going to try heating up or tapping a star piece in to it tomorrow morning.

Have you taken the wheel out yet? That and a torx bit should have it out.

Lifted the back end and tried again with a torque bit. Still now luck.

The bolt just will not budge.

Do I have to take the wheel out now? Also, would I need to replace the now rotten bolt?
