I actually worried that id slowed down too much on the corner, ill just have to put it down to experience!
Shook me for a moment, but we all have to start somewhere right!

If someone is harassing you, or forcing to ride in a way which you aren't comfortable with, pull over and let them pass ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Your cornering will be much smoother when you don't have a Prat Bus up your backside.
If you're being hassled, either pull over, slow right down until they finally get up the bottle to pass, or for bonus larks, swing to the RHS of the road and brake to make them undertake. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Cornering is all about judgement. There is a fast left-right bend near where I live which with my MPV I can only take at about 30mph, on my 50cc weed whacker scooter I can do it at 40mph.
It’s all about getting your weight and position right on the bike as much as it is about speed and grip of the bike. Look ahead and well into the corner. I remember a biker years ago telling me, look where your going and the bike will follow ____________________ Sane: To know when you are doing something crazy. |

Might be worth checking the bike too. Tyre pressures, tread, make (zeng whatever it was in the wet springs to mind...), and any side/side play in the wheels/swingarm/sprocket. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Knee down, rear wheel on fire at 200mph
But srsly, just take corners easy - slow down before it, lean into it and accelerate out. Don't brake if you are in a corner, it WILL end badly. If you do need to brake in a corner, get the bike upright as quick as possible and if you find yourself going too fast into a corner then just lean it through, the bike will hold. ____________________ CBT Passed - 22 / 10 / 11 >> Theory Passed - 16 / 02 / 2012 >> Mod 1 Passed - 07 / 03 / 2012 >> Mod 2 Passed - 18 / 05 / 2012. |

Front brake in the corner makes things go REALY wrong. bike tries to straighten up and shit...goes all dodgy.
Slight bit of rear brake maybe, but if its at the limits of traction all you'll do is lock it and bin the bike ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Be in the right gear to have enough power to pull yourself straight out the corner.
Look where you want to go, don't look at the curb!
Use the throttle to control your speed going through, not the brakes unless you HAVE to
Play around on smaller corners you're familiar with and get a feel for them! Rear brake and drop a gear and see what happens when you try and turn Danger!
I really think experimentation is a big helper for me.
I miss my bike now, feels like it's been forever ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

Yes - you can brake whilst cornering, but you need to fully understand what happens to the bike when you do, and how to counter it, so you don't end up rubber-side-up.
The effect will vary with different bikes, riders and road conditions - so best to practice gently somewhere safe to determine what works best for you. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Once you've skidded the back wheel a couple of times by mistake you get used to the feel of it and the limits of the brakes
Don't overthink it ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |
