How do I replace the headlight bulb on my Speedfight 2 100cc

Ok stupid question of the day. I need to MOT test my speedfight and the dipped beam isnt working. Are there two bulbs in there? I think I need an HS1 35w/35w and there does appear to be a few on ebay but I cant for the life of me see how to get at it.

Any clues?

It uses one bulb which has two filaments.

You need to remove the piece of bodywork above the headlight, it's held on with two screws just below the handlebars. Then you'll be able to see the bulb holder and you can just remove that and change the bulb.

You need to remove around 6 bolts to gain complete access to the light housing, these should be found here:

or if you can just remove the V shaped fairing at the front which is around 3 screws, and put your arm down, but this is only easy when you know what your doing.[/img]

I had to borrow a star screwdriver for the bottom two!

Ok, so I got the front off and there are actually two bulbs. When your facing the bike the one on the left lights up on full beam but goes out on dipped so presumably the one on the right is the dipped beam and needs replacing?

Its going to sound daft as I hardly ever ride it at night so cant remember how it works!

I have seen them online for about a fiver or so but assume I will get one at any bike shop?

I fucking hate accessing the spark plug on peugeot speedfights, there's next to no room for play if you're using a ratchet, you have to use a 21mm spark plug socket and a wrench. I use this tool kit from argos, it has all the bits neccesary to completely strip my speed fight.

I'm unsure what your problem with the lights are, from what I can gather, when your left light (main beam) is on the right light (dip beam) is off and vice versa, if so then this is normal.

When the dipped beam is on only just the two side lights are on and neither of the main bulbs light up. When full beam is on the one on the left (facing the bike) is on. The one on the right doesnt ever light up.

I must admit the bulb looks ok cant see anything wrong with it.

Wahay! I managed to get a bulb (£3.95) and actually fit it myself. Laugh if you want but me actually fixing something is quite an achievment.

One thing the bloke in the shop told me was "dont handle the bulb glass as grease from your fingers will knacker it" Ooops. I handled the working one yesterday so give it a bit of wipe with a cloth and white spirit.

Both bulbs are working now although what the point is of the dipped beam I really dont know. I would be better off strapping a torch to my helmet to be honest for what power it gives out. Oh well its only to get through the MOT anyway.

+1 on the uselessness of peugeot lights, I've seen more light output from a candle.. Glad to here you fixed your problem.

I fitted a Phillips Vision plus 60/55w bulb for the main beam only on my SF100. I sold it soon after, (didn't tell the next owner about that mod) but god knows what it did to the wiring loom/electrics, as i used to have a 2-3second delay when switching from the 35w dipped beam bulb to the 60/55w main beam. It was loads brighter, but i hardly used it tbh, as i thought if i was out at night and melted the wiring loom id be in the shit!

Its not too bad on full beam but as I mentioned earlier it doesnt get used much after dark. Mainly summer use and mainly abroad.
