Just watching an advert for save the children.

One child dies every 4 seconds, but as the population is going up, just how many children are being born and knowing that your child is likely to die in pain, is that not child abuse too?

Another point being that fo just £2 a month I could feed, clothe, give medical treatment and build a new school. So why does it cost me so bloody much?

I know it is all relative, but it just cheeses me off putting western post industrial revolution ideals on to a place that hasn't evolved for the last 6,000 years in real terms other than knowing that there are others with flying machines and mobile devices they can talk on.

For people to live well, others seem to have to live poorly, at least that's the impression I get. We are a pretty screwed up race where your fortune in life is based purely on a lottery at birth.

Edgey explains it far more eloquently then me but it is my understanding that our society is based on the exploitation of countries such as Africa. And as long as we are bound by the present model, i.e. wealth, greed, status, power and all the other seemingly important shite, then things like this will always be present.

You gotta remember these are businesses like any other, that money goes in a pot. The CEO's/chairmans/managing directors, operations managers etc all earn a fortune like in any other multi-million pound business, which is all created by your £2.

Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a valid reason not to give them money. Charities do still make a difference, but obviously some a lot more then others, but they ARE Businesses and it's still profit orientated.
